Biaxin makes me sick

My doc replaced the Zithromax with biaxin and I can't take the taste it leaves in my mouth constantly. I can't chew gum all day to mask the taste or suck on candies, how do you all get passed the taste, it is making me nauseous.

I took the Zithromax for seven months with omnicef and Flagyl so now he is dropping Zithromax and adding biaxin.

Biaxin really does leave a metallic taste in your mouth. .. Just wondering if you drank a little apple cider vinegar afterwards?.

The metallic taste never goes away, will the acv make it leave?

Hi Revive,

I was on Biaxin for a long time (years). I know the weird taste you're talking about. What helped me was drinking a lot of extra water after taking the Biaxin, brushing teeth and scraping tongue, rinsing with natural mouth wash, and sometimes even chewing on a little parsley :)

Yes, parsley works well... I have taken ACv to kill the taste, but eventually it will reappear. Lots of parsley and water for sure..

A dr once told me to take it with orange juice. Worked for me.

The immediate taste doesn't bother me, it's after I take it and it gets in my system it then permeates out my mouth.

Thanks bluebyyou and dannarahn, I will drink more water and chew on some parsley and see what happens.

When we have to take ANX for so long, it's hard to take it when you can't stand the after taste, just like Flagyl, I can't stick with the 5 days he wants me on it. It grosses me out and makes me sick with the after taste.
