I've always been very athletic and active. Used to run about
30 miles a week, played semi-pro beach volleyball and had a rigorous training routine.
After a couple years of agony with my unexplained illness, finally got my Lyme diagnosis in March.
I've been treating pretty aggressively, and I'm happy to report, I was able to start running again.
I started slow, only about
5 miles a week OUTSIDE. (I was so scared to be outside out of my home in case I collapsed, as I was having heart issues). But last week, I made my goal of completing a 5 mile run! It wasn't great time at all, in fact, I probably could have walked faster....but I did it. For the whole week, I totaled 26 miles.
I was so amazed and incredibly thankful that I was able to run again, in the fresh air...there's nothing like it.
Quite a difference from about
3 months ago when I couldn't even walk, and even at times, crawled.
I realize with this disease, that may change again, but....
There is hope....

Good for you!!! I hope you will continue to go uphill rather than sink again. I'm sure you know not to push yourself. Keep us posted on how you're doing.

That is inspirational!! Wow, you're doing well after only about
3 months of treatment?
I love to hear success stories.
Would you mind sharing your protocol and when you first started to feel some improvement?

Congrats!! I used to run half marathons right up until, the stuff really hit the fan...
I've been treating since the end of April and recently got back into spin classes, yoga, running a mile here and there on a treadmill, etc but haven't been brave enough to try running on concrete again because of back issues. But I hope to someday soon - this is definitely inspiring!! Thank you!!

Yay! So great! That's definitely a goal of mine. I'd like to even just be able to start going on regular walks without feeling completely worn out! Running and exercising again would be fantastic, so this is definitely inspirational!
On the plus side being able to keep active now should be really good for your recovery too! Maybe it will help to stop you from having more flare ups of symptoms! :)

Thanks everyone! It's a great feeling indeed. I still have some lingering
symptoms, mostly neuro stuff, but running seems to help somewhat...
also, I have to mention, I gained almost 40 pounds. Seems like most
here lose the weight, that has not been the case with me. :(
Here's what I've been doing:
Herbals
A-L Complex - up to 15 drops twice a day
C3 (Curcumin)
Reverstol
Magnesium
Fish Oil
Vitamin D
Milk Thistle
5-MTHF (for compound heterozygous MTHFR)
Methyl B (for compound heterozygous MTHFR)
Saccharomyces boulardii
Davinci Mega Probiotic
Antibiotic Pulse Schedule - 3 days on, 4 days off. Usually within the month
I do 7 straight days, then I have a week off
Biaxin - 1000 mg twice a day
Omnicef - 600 mg twice a day
Flagyl- 500 mg twice a day

Mischa: I'm not following your schedule of abx. I didn't sleep last well last night, maybe it's my non-functioning brain.
You pulsed 3 days on, 4 off usually within the month.
Then you said 7 days straight, and one week off.
So are you doing 3 on, 4 off for three weeks, then the fourth week doing 7 days on, and then on week off?

Girlie,
That's right...I actually just started THIS schedule in mid June. Prior to that, I was 3 days on 4 days off for the whole month. My LLMD added the 7 days on and a week off just recently.
