Hi Daisy,
Yes, you must take probiotics while you are on antibiotics. This is to prevent a yeast (candida) overgrowth. That would be a systemic yeast infection, not just one limited to your mouth or genitals.
Many people recommend getting cold source probiotics, that is, ones that are kept in a refrigerator. You are also looking for a probiotic formula that contains a variety of "critters" and provides them in high numbers, like billions.
Take your probiotic two hours after each dose of antibiotics. The idea is that the antibiotics kill off your gut flora and you then replenish it as soon as possible. Kefir, yogurts, and kombucha also will help with your probiotic intake. You can also encourage your gut flora with sauerkraut and fruit pectin.
You might find that you have to try a few varieties until you find one that works for you. While I have one type that I mostly use (Primadophilus -- no, I have no financial interest in that brand), I rotate in other varieties in every once in a while.
Good luck!
