glossalpharyngeal neuralgia / update

Hey all,
My doctor seems to think that I developed this excruciating condition, which further triggered a secondary pain syndrome. I mean, maybe because the pain has been excruciating for a few months now. But it's continuous so it's exhausting and makes me broken. But at least I have a explanation. So weird because every time I swallow it shouts out this burning pain that doesn't quit.

This doctor insists it's not from lyme....of course, because it comes out from a tumor or infections. He said virus. Seriously?

Wow, Louise, I'm so sorry that you have this! I found this article on that condition: www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/001636.htm which states: "Glossopharyngeal neuralgia is believed to be caused by irritation of the ninth cranial nerve, called the glossopharyngeal nerve."

I know that Lyme can make the 7th cranial nerve go bonkers causing Bell's Palsy and we have had members post about terrible pain along their jaw and other areas before, including myself. Neuro Lyme causes demyelination of the nerves - the outer coating of the nerve is stripped away - which can cause a great deal pain and misfiring of the nerves. Maybe this is what is happening to you?

So this doctor doesn't think that Lyme is an infection?
