Before lyme diagnosis, I saw a neurologist who ordered an MRI of the thoracic/lumbar spine to "rule out a tumor".
Results show a syrinx (fluid within spinal cord) from T4 to T12. No spinal cord compression. Just found out today.
A syrinx consists of cerebrospinal fluid that normally flows around the cord and brain.
Different causes - include tumor, chiari malformation, trauma.
Is there any possibility that lyme disease could cause the fluid cysts on my spinal cord?
Has anyone heard of any lyme patients having a syrinx?
I am overwhelmed with fear and don't know how to handle this new bad news.
I'm waiting to talk to the neurologist about a referral to a neurosurgeon.
