Hello! This is my first time posting, though I've been lurking for about
a month now. I love this community and feel the support exuding from you all, despite my silence! I feel like such a creeper, but seriously. You guys are wonderful and offer so much hope and inspiration to others who are going through such difficult times.
My symptoms primarily affect my skin. I have an insanely itchy rash that crops up all over my body. Just when I think it's healing in one spot, it appears some place new. It's excruciating. And relentless. From my research and consultation with experts, it seems like this symptom may be Lyme itself, Bartonella, or a combination of the two.
Whatever the case, it is so unbearably itchy.
I know that the most common symptoms for LD are musculoskeletal/neurological/articular, and I haven't seen too many people with this symptom on my forum searches. But if you relate or have experience dealing with this, please give me some advice on how I can gain relief from the itching. I am desperate!
I always wind up resisting the urge to scratch for so long... then I go crazy and just can't stop. This JUST happened, moments ago, which is what prompted me to write my first post here! I always regret it when I break and scratch like crazy because it stings, burns, and bleeds afterwards. And then it just itches even more. It takes a couple of weeks to heal on top of it all. It's a living hell (I know it's a different hell for each of us).
I know this isn't the typical LD symptom. I'm not sure if it's because my skin is highly allergic to the neurotoxins or enzymes produced by the bacteria, but it's just awful.
Any ideas, thoughts, or insight?
Thank you!
