nervous system on overdrive

My symptoms from the start have been nerve related - nerve pain and vibrations.
What I'm finding is sometimes that I get stressed over little things, and I feel my nervous system ramping up, and then I get the bad nerve pain. It's like the lyme has cause my nervous system to be on overdrive.
Once I am treated and healthy again, am I going to be this weak emotionally forever? Has lyme changed me forever? I'm worried that i have now developed mental health issues.

I'm kinda freaking out over this...

I'm thinking of trying the music for three hours - can't remember who started the thread - it's someone who was in really bad shape and is finally well now....anyone remember who that was? (Having a "bad" brain day today)

OMG....Im right there with ya Girlie! Sigh...can SO relate right NOW! My nerves are literally just shot from this illness. Its like I just cant handle stress AT ALL. I def have vibrations. My biggest thing right now is burning neuropathy throughout body. Are you having any burning like?

Music has and always will be my AIRPLANE!!....so def you trying that sounds good. Def just being distracted from anything helps.

It like I am just a 'Nervous Nelly' and I worry worry worry about the outcome of this whole thing.....is this what gets you the most?

Oh my really!?! You are having the burning kind too!? Exactly...not relieved by ANYTHING! Prior to lyme I was a very happy person as well. My fam is known for our smiles if you know what I mean by that. I just had a never really sweated the small stuff kind of attitude. Its so crazy how these stupid bacteria can invade our bodies and make us so depressed and feel like we are going crazy with our nerves all revved up.

It does help me find comfort to know Girlie...that this is NOT US though. It is the stupid bacteria trying to take over. I have had lots of burning throughout body with this but for the past week it has been in my head! Like acid burning my brain or scalp. I normally can always find a remedy or method to what madness this illness causes but like you said, it is not relieved by paid meds/anti inflammatories or much of anything really. Lots of crying and talking to the man above when I feel like this to be honest.

I havent even been on here for awhile because I was in a pretty decent place like a month ago and due to some inevetible stress in my household...it has caused me to get off track. Upon researching about this burning, I stumbled across a past member on here who had the same exact burning in head feeling. First I found her on another forum that I kinda started at in the beginning and then upon more googling I ran across her talking about burning on HW forum as well! I seen her success story at the end of her journey. I was able to contact her through the other forum. She was on here back in 2010 and has been well living her life.

We have exchanged a few emails this past week and she is an absolute dear and has given me some really sound advice. You and I are alike because we got so much mental stuff affecting and making symptoms spiral out of control.

She mentioned in her first email (which I already kind of know)...that anxiety will spread like its own disease. Sometimes reading too much will just make you overwelmed and get the nerves going. Unfortunately, the more I feel worse the more I just want to look for answers! We are all guilty of it....its the smart thing to do. As much said before, we become our own advocates with this illness and sometimes hard to have faith when you been through ringer and just want to get and be better.

A lyme friend of mine in the past told me once, "dont just go on the internet to constantly look up lyme stuff as you will become the disease". Also, look up fun stuff, play games and such. I personally dont even go on FB hardly because it is so depressing seeing everyone else living there lives not even knowing what its like when you dont have your health. HOWEVER, the support that comes from forum's such as this is a God-send and sometimes it is what we need when no one else CAN relate or understand. So it goes both ways.

At any rate, everything will be okay Girlie. We are both in treatment so we took the right steps and we will get there. Its just hard getting not distracted along the way. I would love to share my story with you. I have the beginning of it on another forum that I may cheat and copy and paste...then I will finish I guess what is the next 2/3's of it.

If you like, I can send you the first email reply the girl sent me I reached out to? It relates to our mental, nerve stuff outlook. Some things she mentioned made me just have an "A-ha" moment...ya know.

I reached out to her because rather than speculating sometimes, she *has been there and DONE that* with lyme so I find comfort in more concrete history. Also, from googling her pasts posts(i became very curious)....she had many of the same symptoms as myself so like I told her...maybe we had same strain, co's etc!

Welp I will work on getting my story together...gotta run for now. Buzzer going off for my homemade veggie lover pizza in oven. Lost like 10 pounds in last week or so and gonna take advantage of bit of appetite I have today.

OMG, I can only imagine Louise. I am SO sorry to hear about your mother. Prayers going out to you and your family.

Its like it starts to burn when our nerves are aggravated with stress. The heavier the stress, the heavier the burn. It is very draining.

Its nice to know you at least got a clear from neurology....that IS good news on another note.

Yup... Lots of burning today for me... It was like being on fire. I feel like it's the nerves as well!

Pirouette- yes def lyme related/induced! Its funny you mention work because thats where I was at when I had one of my first INSANE anxiety attacks. Omg...a former co-worker at that time must have thought I was nuts. I normally work well under pressure....but boy that was the beginning of a long haul ahead.

Also regarding the DNA mutations...very interesting. Hopefully you are on to something with smoothing out your neurotransmitters!

LymePickle-I KNOW!--MEEE ToOOo! I just wonder is it nerve's/neuropathy in general from this illness & stress ...or part is it part of a herx reaction. I like to sincerely hope its part of the killing of them!!

I haven't been formally diagnosed yet but if I do have Lyme, add me to the ranks of nerve related issues. I have the burned skin feeling, mostly on my arms/chest/face. Off and on numbness in my face, carpal tunnel symptoms, random buzzing/tingling/crawly sensations from my feet up to my scalp. Stress and fatigue definitely make it all worse, and then the anxiety from it being worse makes it worse which causes more anxiety. Such a cycle.

Louise, I also get very achy. Like a deep bone and muscle ache, primarily from my pelvis radiating down into my legs. It seems almost like a fibromyalgia pain.

CNS (Central Nervous System) symptoms that seem out of "normal" ranges for Lyme are often caused by the infection combo of Lyme and Bartonella, as they can both hit the nervous system pretty hard.

Louise - I'm so glad to hear that your symptoms are at least easing up after moving out of the house for a bit. I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom though. Know that we are all here for you and you can feel free to post about her here on this forum. It's part of what you are living with.

Windypetunia that sounds like Bartonella symptoms. Be sure you are evaluated for this infection as well. Remember we have symptom lists in the "New to Lyme?" thread to help you realize what you may be dealing with.

Girlie - I'm so very sorry to hear about your Dad. Being a Daddy's girl as well, I miss mine terribly some days (he passed when I was just 17).

I am the same way with Lyme! Before I would get nervous in normal situations a person should get nervous in prior to an interview, prior to meeting new people at a party, having to give a presentation at work but now I can just be working away and all of a sudden it will hit me. No one can see it on the outside (thankfully but we all know lyme is on the inside) and I'll just be like freaking out on the inside for no dang reason!! I have tried breathing exercises and all kinds of things I have to just "ride it out" and that can take anywhere from ten minutes to a couple of hours. This disease is so unpredictable so very frustrating especially to me since I use to be a planner-I would make plans for Friday nights on Monday morning that type of thing now I hardly ever commit to anything (sure you all can relate).

Louise - I'm happy to hear that some of your symptoms are better - so good you are sleeping better! That's a big one for me, too. I hope now that the mold is remedied that you will continue to get better.
You've had more than enough issues to deal with.

I know exactly what you're experiencing. It is crazy. As if we don't have enough to manage on a daily basis just getting through treatment—you're slammed every now and then with this paralyzing condition.

I have hetero (1 copy) of M677T and A1298C mutations. My lymebrain has taken over today so I can't remember which is which—but one of the mutations affects metabolization of sugar, heart issues, and something else. And the other affects neurotransmitter levels and something else. Sorry! I'm not much help today. But there is a website that is really great—MTHFR.net
