Happy to report Mini-vacay was great!

I'm usually posting about complaints, worries, problems, etc. So, for once I have something good to say.

My hubby and I took our 21 year old son and his girlfriend on a mini-vacation to the sunny Okanagan (here in BC, Canada). Ferry ride and long drive there (took us 9 hours to get there - stopping every 2 hours for me to get out of car and walk a bit).
I'm so happy that I didn't back out last minute. It gave us an opportunity to really get to know my son's girlfriend. We told them if they joined us for dinner each night, we'd pay for it. It worked...we were able to have good dinner conversations each night with them.
Our hotel was on the lake with a beautiful restaurant built on pillars actually on the lake. Beautiful view.
Physically, I did quite well. I didn't get much rests during the day, but was able to sleep well each of the three nights. I abandoned the gluten free diet a few times, but I'm back on it again, now that I'm home.
My husband said he's proud of me - for going and maintaining a positive attitude throughout the trip. He thinks I have improved in the last couple months - as my "witching hour" doesn't seem to be as bad as it used to be - less tears and seems to be shorter in duration. I'm also more confident in doing things...so even if it's just mental/emotional, that's still an improvement.

I'm hoping for more good things to come. I have learned that it may not be obvious improvements - but subtle ones, that will build over time. I can't expect to just wake up one morning pain free.

AWESOMENESS Girlie!! So glad you pushed yourself. Ive wanted to go to Kings Dominion amusement/water park so bad all summer but I KNOW that would be too intense for me in every way possible. Shoot, lately I would settle for a nice slice of coconut cream pie! Seriously lol....(we have a local mom & pops owned grocery store where the lil ol lady makes it all homemade, whipped cream and all) :( :) :/ ....but cant do the sugar of course.

We also celebrated tonight, we finished a 4200 sq ft roof we have done a few days a week, so we split a pitcher of margaritas tonight. Hope we don't pay tomorrow or over the next few days with the alcohol. It did taste really good being I quit drinking 16 yrs ago and only had a few glasses of wine in the past few years.

Glad you had a nice vacation Girlie, baby steps mean a lot when you think your life might be over soon.
