Peeling Skin on Palms

I've been having daily skin peeling of my palms for about 8 months now. They start as small pin sized bubbles of skin, then lift and peel throughout the day. New ones appear almost every day. I'm currently on antibiotics Biaxin/Mepron/Doxy and am noticing a slight decrease in the amount of peeling, but I may just be having a good few days.

I've looked for a while on google to see if this could be a Lyme symptom but haven't found much. Does anyone else experience this? Thanks!

Yes! Though I am still not 100% sure I have Lyme (waiting to see an LLMD), I have had this now for a couple weeks. Its pretty weird.
I am also on Doxy 100mg twice daily, but the skin thing started before I started the doxy.
Its mostly on my left hand near the base of the palm close to the pinky side of the wrist (for lack of a better location description). There is also some on my right wrist area but not nearly as much as on the left.

Man, that's really really weird. Mine is also worse on my left hand, and usually happens around the base of my palms, but it creeps all the way up my hand and sometimes even near my fingers. I too have it on my right hand, but just like you, it's much less noticeable. Can you please let me know if you get a lyme diagnosis? The skin thing started for me before any medications as well.

(I'm also not 100% convinced I have lyme)

I just posted back to you on the other thread, but I will definitely let you know once I find out what this thing is.
Though, everyone I talk to, including family and friends who have experience with LD, is convinced it is LD. I'm not really sure what else it could be either, but I'll be the first to admit this is all new to me and I know very little about all the other "bugs" out there.
I have my first LLMD appt on Monday and I have a feeling an Igenex Western Blot will be ordered during that time.
Does anyone know how long it takes to receive results for that Igenex test?

Thanks for the reply Jeff. It took them almost 2 weeks to get my results back :/. I believe the lab is in CA (I think), so if you're closer than I am, you may get them quicker - I'm in VA. Good luck with your testing man, I'm still trying to figure this out as well. I think not knowing is one of the toughest parts. I've been deceived by so many ignorant doctors, that it's hard for me to trust any diagnosis at this point.

I had these come up from time to time when I was sick the first time, and I"m starting to have some very minor issues with psoriasis with my new infection too.

Lyme can cause psoriasis that can go away (or at least ease up a lot) with Lyme treatment. Try keeping your hands moisturized and don't wash them unless there is a real need (hand washing dries skin). I've used witch hazel in a spray bottle (old hair spray bottle) and coconut oil has been the most help for me.

Yeah, my initial instinct when the peeling began was that it was some type of dermatitis or psoriasis. I went to several dermatologists who prescribed me creams/lotions. Nothing helped. I've switched shampoos/detergents/soaps multiple times, as well as moved since it began. It still persists. I've also tried to avoid washing my hands and keeping them moisturised without any luck. This leads me to believe it has to be some weird part of my illness. One thing that is interesting, is I notice most people saying "they come and go". I've had them non-stop for 8 months. Not a day goes by without new peeling, flaking skin. I'll look into the witch hazel and the coconut oil (it can't hurt). I think I may have forgotten to mention that they are also painless.

It definitely sounds like yours are a whole lot worse than mine. They have started to clear already so my case is definitely of the come and go variety.

I'll ask my new LLMD on Monday to see if he knows anything or if any of his other LD patients experience it. He might be able to provide a reason what causes it and why it manifests in those tiny "blisters." I'm interested to know myself.
