For anyone who is using nut butters (peanut or almond), there is a recall that has been issued due to possible salmonella contamination for both organic and the regular nut butters. Here are the brands that have been affected and the link to see what to do next:
www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/ucm410533.htm
Brands:
Arrowhead Mills
MaraNatha
Kroger
Safeway
Trader Joe's
Whole Foods

whew - our brand of almond butter isn't one of those.
We buy "Nuts to You" brand - it's very good, but expensive - but maybe all the almond butters cost a lot.

We spoke to Kroger and were told the only one at their store recalled was Arrowhead Mills. We buy the Kroger brand of Simple Truth Organic Smooth Peanut Better.
I remember when we didn't hear about
recalls on Foods and cars, now it seems to be daily.

PrayingForAMiracle, I bought some recalled MaraNatha almond butter at Kroger. Perhaps Arrowhead Mills was the only one recalled at your local Kroger, but not every Kroger.

OH NO! I just bought the whole foods peanut butter when I was in Winston Salem yesterday. I ate some of it yesterday, and nothing has happened so far, except a migraine. Should I ditch it?
Thanks for posting.

I ditched peanut butter a long time ago because of migraines!
If you bought it yesterday, it is probably okay since the recall has been out for several days. But I would check the FDA site just to be safe.

Thanks Nosila. Does peanut butter cause migraines? I have just had three migraines in four days, and I've been eating a lot of peanut butter!
Maybe you're going to help me more than you thought.

Margaret, you may have developed a peanut allergy or sensitivity - unfortunately quite common with chronic Lyme patients.
Do a trial. No peanuts, peanut butter, peanut oil for 3 weeks - then eat some daily for 3 days in a row again. If you have any symptoms, then you know you most likely have either an allergy or a sensitivity to it.
