MODS: Email from "HealingWell.com" advertising stuff??

Just got an email from HealingWell.com (as opposed to the usual, "forums,") advertising a prescription called Enteragam?? Seems odd. The title was something like, "There's a Safe Product Used to Treat IBS-D," and proceeded, "Introducing Enteragam."

I didn't open the email; just read title and first line of text.

I just got it too, whats up with the direct marketing. Thought our membership was limited to interact ing with other forum members. This feels like spam. Did someonesteal Healingwells database?

I don't think so. I know with hotmail you don't but with some of the other emails, I'm not sure. For now don't open it. I'll see what admin says to do.

Sorry, I can't figure out any other way to forward it. I have gmail. I tried selecting it, but that doesn't work.

I thought that is what the advertising on the site was for. Im not happy my member info was given to a third party who can now sell it to other parties im not interested in hearing from. If they want to sell to the membership why not have a placd on the forum for them to solicit the membrrs, then each member can decide. Now our personal info can be sold to anyone and we will get more spam. Not cool. I understand advertising but did I agree somewhere that healingwell could pass my personal data onto third parties?

This is what the privacy policy says:

We take the issue of your personal privacy very seriously. We pledge to never make available to any third party your personal information. We will never sell your name or email address to anyone, including other publishers or advertising partners.

Health and medical web sites have a particular responsibility to protect the privacy and confidentiality of their users. As a user of health and medical-related web sites, you have a right to use such sites with the confidence that your personal, private, medical, and/or any other information is not being tracked, collected, otherwise aggregated, or disclosed without your express consent.

So this is a serious breach of that policy!

Thanks AML, I thought that was what I recalled. Still not sure this is legit, waiting fir update from mods. Someone saying its all good and calling himslf an Admin is not valuable since I and I guess many others here have no clue who the admins are so im waiting for some of ghe mods to let us know what is hoing on.

Yes, this did come from HealingWell but I don't think our email was sold or compromised. If it came from the manufacturer I would wonder but it did come from HealingWell.com. Besides I don't think our administrator would ever compromise our contact info. He is a wonderful man and very honest, too. I think he is just trying to raise more funds to help pay for this expanding forum.

We are just finding more about it and are discussing it so I'm sure your mods will fill you in when we know more about it. I just didn't want you to think your email was sold.

The problem is that many on this forum can't work or have had to go to reduced hours because we are so ill. This leaves little money for treatments and we don't have anything left over for donating. Surely something else can be done.

So, it's been revealed that just clicking on the ads that appear on the sides and top of the forum sends pennies to the forum from the advertisers.

This will help provide the money needed to keep the forum going. I've started clicking on as many as I can each time I'm on the forum. By clicking on the ad, a site opens in another tab, so all you have to do is close the tab that just opened - you don't have to do any other activities.

A good way to help support this site and keep the forum up and running!! :-)
