Got my Igenex kit- a few questions

I received my kit today, and want to get it done ASAP as I just found out I'm 4 weeks pregnant.
I asked Igenex and they said a chiropractor could order, and I figured that would be a better option than making an appointment with my PCP or OB. I see my chiro tomorrow and hopefully he won't have a problem signing the order.

My question is about getting the blood drawn. We have a Labcorp here, but I've never just gone in with a kit I got in the mail before. Will they look at me like I'm crazy? It says that the blood needs to sit for 15 minutes then be spun in the centrifuge. Will they just do that then give me the tube back so I can run to FedEx and mail? It just seems so strange to be doing it myself.

I wish I knew the answer to your question. My post will bump up this thread to the top again where it will get more views.

If no one answers before you go in for the blood draw, be bold and be insistent that they do this right. It's that important. Best of luck!

Hey windy! I got my blood drawn at a place called Any Lab Test Now. You just walk in with your test kit and màke sure you bring the instructions to the lab technician so they do the blood how Igenex wants. It was very simple the only hard part was I did have to wait about 30 minutes in the waiting room. It cost me $15 and that was with them shipping it via FedEx and all! You can go to their website to see where the closest lab is. If that doesn't work I know a girl who was able to get it done at a local hospital but I believe there was some hassle involved-but an option if you can't get into your PCP.

Hi Windypetunia- I got mine drawn at a local hospital. I just went to their outpatient lab. I did need a prescription from my doc though. My doctor just wrote on her prescription pad, "Draw Igenex blood". The hospital thought it was weird and questioned me why I wasn't just using their lab. The staff had to make a few phone calls to figure out the codes to charge me and it was a hassle - but they did it. I had to wait around for the spinning (which they did in their lab).

I agree with what the others have said, no verbatim what it says to do with the blood then inform the tech when you get there. If they seem incompetent or uncaring ask to switch to someone else. It isn't worth it!

I can't remember if there were more than one, but I know 780.79 - other malaise and fatigue was one of them.

You can go to cms.gov and look up the codes for your symptoms. I had to use it recently for the paperwork for my daughter. The doc signed the form, but left everything blank. Also, Galaxy Labs doesn't require a signature so she just handed me back the blank form. I had to look up the doc's NPI number!

My blood is now on it's way to Cali! I called Igenex and they gave me the code for Lyme, although at this point it's not diagnosed, so we just used that. It took 3 labs before I found one that would draw for me, but it's done.

My labcorp will only draw blood for their testing. I had to goto local hospitals lab to get blood drawn and spun for my igenix test. Only needed drs signature on the form ,I cant recall if diagnosis code was needed.

Dont forget windy, igenex reqires a dr to send the results to even if a lab doesntvrequire.

Personally a nother issue I have with the medical process in us, if im paying for a darn lab I shouldnt have to jump thru hoops to get a copy. A copy should automatically be sent to the patient that is paying for the service. If a state requires a foctor see yhe lab results then send a copy fo both. It aggravates me that I have to beg and have additional delay for my lab results.

Roxie, they weren't allowed to give results to patients. But I just saw that now they are!

Reading the entire regulation, it looks like they are REQUIRED to as of April, 2014. I'll test this in a couple of weeks!
