Backstory:
Bit by a tick 9 weeks ago, symptoms first developed 5 weeks ago, GP refused to prescribe me antibiotics as the the traditional blood test came back negative (shocker). At risk, I had to diagnose myself and had a family friend (eye doctor) prescribe me the classic 100mg Doxy twice daily as to not let the disease progress any further. This happened 3 weeks ago, so 6 weeks after the bite.
Today, I feel GREAT. Almost 100%. Fatigue is gone, far less knee and muscle pain, far less frequent headaches, and I am starting to sleep. More or less, my last remaining symptom is muscle twitches. These have gotten way less frequent and violent, but are still consistently there.
As soon as I started taking Doxy, I made an appointment with an LLMD. My appointment was today.
She confirmed my diagnosis, and to be safe I also had some blood taken and sent to Igenx for both Lyme and co-infections.
She also said that despite feeling a lot better, I should supplement the Doxy with Biaxin. I questioned this as I am feeling so much better from the low dose Doxy which seems to be working, and I am also not having any ill side effects. She said my other option is to double the Doxy dose to 400mg for 3 more weeks, which is what I chose.
I am hoping I caught this early enough. Does anyone have any thoughts or recommendations? Thanks in advance.
