Added in Japanese knotweed last night.

So I bought a tincture of concentrated knotweed and astralagus tincture and took that for the very first time last night!

Wow! Powerful vibration sensations that were almost pulsing in my brain, also muscle burning, and the whole 9 yards of symptoms. It was pretty bad actually.

Is Japanese knotweed really that powerful?

It says on the bottle for a healthy immune system. I had quite a bit of inflammation from it for sure.

I've been taking a dropper full of straight japanese knotweed twice a day. I noticed no physical reactions (but I rarely do with any of the herbal tinctures I'm taking) other than noticing inflammation was down immediately and a little less pain in joints. It was such an improvement I bought two more bottles (expensive).

do you know that Buhner advices not to use Astralagus in Chronic Lyme? He considers Astralagus as the primary herb for prevention.

I'm not a dr, but this piece came to my mind as soon as I read your post.

That is a very strange reaction! Japanese knotweed is a relatively middle road anti-inflammatory. So I'm not sure what you were feeling was a herx. Just be cautious!

...and I'm following Opugirl. I have been taking Jap Knotw for a long time now and never had any reactions, but vivid dreams in the very begining. No nightmares, but nice vivid dreams.

Yes, it has astralagus in it! I wonder if that is the reason why I had the reaction? I wanted to buy just japanese knotweed but they didn't have it at the health food store. I think the product I got is a good one... But yes, the question is the astralagus?

I don't really know if it's chronic Lyme still though, my lyme might actually be done. I think it's more like chronic bartonella. I plugged in all my symptoms I had into my own personal symptom tracker. And it was only bartonella that shot up intensely in symptoms. The Lyme graph didn't budge.

Also I am on minocycline, septra DS, and clarithromycin. I think japanse knotweed has a tendency to stir things up intracellularly and gets to all the nerves. So it kind of has an effect on the infections to leave the cells? I don't know if it's true but that is my own theory.

But I am amazed at how poweverful the reaction was. I am going to try again to see if it is the japanese knotweed, this is the only tincture I added in... lately I've been pretty much symptom free.

I'm still waiting for my Green Dragon Botanicals JP, CC - taking awhile to get to Nevernever land...lol

I chose GD because I wanted capsules....I have a homeopathic tincture I take...and I'm not liking the alcohol.
I do believe the tinctures are more effective, though.

Totally agree about the alcohol. I have to put all my tinctures in water and let them sit for about 10 min and the alcohol evaporates enough to consume without puking.

Mmmmm….Pom juice was my fav. juice once upon a time—especially infused w/ blueberry juice. Perfection. Too much sugar for me now. :(

It might be the homeopathics used in the tincture that you're feeling.

Actually, I think yes. Japanese gave me the worst herx I ever had. And I thought Samento and Banderol were bad.

Japanese Knotweed gives me meningitis-like symptoms (or exacerbates them). I think it's bad news (which can mean good news, depending on how you look at it, and how much you take).

PS, I hope you didn't take the full dose! Always start with only one drop!

Also, Astragalus, as someone pointed out to me, isn't good for late-phase Lyme.

Lymepickle I take the A-L Complex and it has astragalus in it, here is the definition on the Byron White site, Astragalus: For centuries this herb has been used as an anti-microbial, adaptogen and tonic to the immune, lung, kidney and heart. It will increase energy as it detoxifies.

So I guess it would be safe to take according to him.

I am asking for advice on Japanese Knotweed.....hard to get the takehome on all of the posts about it. I have the tincture and started with 5 drops in water to fight the last of my Babeesia, I have been feeling about 85-90% Lyme-free after a 10 month or so trying to treat it. I have muscle aches, swollen knee that goes up and down.....lately the knee really acting up. After starting the JK, I feel like I'm herxing, if I started too high of a dose, should I back down or keep going?How long am I supposed to take it for? Should I stop? I am at a loss. I take Mepron, Azithromycin,then for supplements, Serra Peptase, B-12, Glutathione, and Milk Thistle. Any advice welcome. I was doing Burbur and Pinella for awhile but never felt any different. Hoping to be done with all of this soon. Circumin? How about any other Herbals? Thank you all so much.

5 drops to start is high.

Go back down to 1 drop. After a few days, if it's good, then do 1 drop twice daily...after few days - still good?...then increase to 1 drop 3 X daily...

Then to to 2 drops X 1 and 1 drop X 2 daily....etc.

If at anytime you are herxing, go back to the previous dose you were on without herxing...stay there for awhile...when the herx is over...then slowly start increasing again.

JK and I have never been able to form a bond (lol). I may try it again later, but I've tried about 4 different times at low doses. It gives me head herxes.
