When my son was school aged - I started to question the vaccines...and each time the notice was given out...I would look at them and decide. The risks of getting the disease had to outweigh the potential harm the vaccine could do. No way was he going to have a chicken pox vaccine...
A few times I kept him home from school on vaccination days...didn't want them to say 'oops, sorry, we vaccinated him'.
Then I would go to the Health clinic and tell them what ones I wanted him to have.

I believe it was when he was in Grade 6 - the schedule called for one of the Hep's. I don't remember which one, but you were at risk if you engaged in sexual activity and shared needles.
I was a stay at home mom...I knew my son...he was not interested in girls yet...and was not having sex...or injecting drugs. I knew where he was all the time.

The flack I got. "How do you know he's not doing those things yet?" ummm...because I know. He was still playing leggo in his bedroom and we were watching Disney movies together. I knew where he was all the time. He didn't do sleep-overs unless I knew the parents well, and those were few and far between.
