I have Babesia, Lyme & Bartonella.
Acute Lyme w/ rash & meningo-encephalitis, etc (almost died) in June 2013.
Was diagnosed late, so bacteria were prolifically disseminated.
Began tx late July- straight Doxy until Nov 1.
Was actually improving with just the Doxy until the 4- month point.
Then I began to go downhill, trouble breathing, severely anemic, still had head swelling.
Went on Tindamax- gigantic painful herx. Coartem for Babs.
In December, added Rifampin. Also, added Buhner herbals in Dec.
By Mid- January there was much improvement in my condition.
I have been on multiple combos since, which include malarone & zithro.
Up, down, up, down in symptoms and treatment.
It seems I did my best on the Coartem, Doxy, Rifampin, Tindamax combo.
I have had to stop tx for yeast and liver enzymes a few times & each times I slid backwards into treatment.
My doc just put me on a new protocol & I would like opinions on it, please?
NEW PROTOCOL:
Malarone, Bactrim, Rifampin, and Doryx (time release doxy). Pulsing Tindamax 2 days a week. He said if i can manage doryx even once a day that will help.
There are 3 problems here for me so far on this regimen:
1. I can't keep the YEAST down, even though I am taking Candex, Nystatin, Kyolic Garlic Candida Cleanse & eating a clean diet.
2. It feels like too much abx for my body. Yes, I am herxing with this new protocol, likely the bactrim since this is the first time I've ever used it. But, I've started having abdominal pains.
3. I understand that Rifampin reduces the strengths of Malarone & Bactrim. I spoke with my doc and asked if I could pull the Rifampin and take Doryx in its place so there wouldnt be this interference w/ Malarone & Bactrim and he said okay.
However, I have seen much improvement in my health whenever Rifampin has been in my regimen.
So, I feel really stuck right now.
Should I go back to the Doxy, Rifampin & Tindamax combo that I did so well with in the past ? Or
Should I take the Doxy, Bactrim & Malarone w/ pulsing Tindamax?
Does anybody have any other ideas that would help me figure this out, please?
