I have been doing some research as my PCP wants me to see a Rheumatologist, he still isn't convinced that I have Lyme as my Lyme DNA test came back negative. He is unsure if I have permanent damage or still having effects of the Lyme from the first time I had it. I believe I still have Lyme and need treatment but my PCP won't treat anymore. In my research I came across the Dr who wrote this and my PCP has referred me to him so I am optimistic right now.

Today has been a rough day for me, been working since 7 this morning and my brain has shut down. If this is all confusing I will try to reword it when I can think.

Hi there Mischief Lyme, as you probably have heard- a negative test does not rule out not having lyme.

Unfortunately, as there are a few good PCP's out there and willing to help with lyme...the majority just does not have the correct knowledge or equipped to handle lyme.

How were you treated the first time? How long were you treated and how do you know if you got rid of it? Also most importantly, were you able to get a quick diagnosis the first time (such as a positive test/or bulls-eye-rash) and treat promptly?

I had the same thing happen. I was diagnosed and treated 25 years ago when my symptoms returned including arthritis like symptoms in my hands and legs. Please get to a LLMD. My GP tested me for Lyme again. She started me on antibiotics and then determined I had a false positive after conferring with an ID specialist. This forum got me to a LLMD who diagnosed me clinically with Lyme and began treatment immediately. She also retested me and guess what? I was absolutely positive for Lyme. It's worth taking the time and seeing a physician who is well informed. It changed my life.

My PCP sent me to a neurologist then to a rheumatologist after I started my more sever Lyme nerve pain and joint stiffness 3 years after my tick bite. Big waste of two years, and neither specialist nor my PCP would listen when I discussed possible Lyme disease. What ever you do don't let the Rheumatologist give you any steroids. Its a big problem if you do indeed have Lyme. Get an appointment with a LLMD.

A protozoan like babesia is what caused my arthritis. Alkaline foods decrease its replication enough that I don't show or feel the effects of the arthritis. If I eat normal food, I have arthritis. Raise your pH and they can't replicate as fast. While the pH of your blood doesn't change much, the pH of your synovial fluid can raise up 1 point or more and that is huge.
