So discouraging - repeatedly moving the "wellness" date

When my hubby and I go over our finances...we discuss my working...and I'll say something about possibly being better in a few months to at least work part time. This has gone on for over a year now, and of course the date that I will be well enough to go back to work keeps getting pushed.

The last conversation we had about finances...my going back to work in a few months wasn't discussed. We discussed what we needed to do to permanently live on my husband's wage...just in case.

So sad. It's supposed to lessen the stress for me...but I think it's done the opposite...I don't want to be a permanently disabled person.

I was so happy in July to get the test results and diagnosis...but how stupid was I to think that I would be almost better in a few months? What a let down.
Do any of you feel this way?

I do. I was hoping to be better in time to take classes this semester. That didn't happen. I was thinking of taking it week by week, but that's proving to be stupid. I'm living with my parents right now, and every now and then they'll ask me about looking for work. I barely leave the house and can't go in to where I still technically work. It's very stressful and frustrating.

It just sucks all around.

I think having work as a moving target...was better for me psychologically...I feel worse now accepting that it is indefinite.

Absolutely feel the same. I was my sole support. I also had thd expectation that once wd gigured this out I would see exponential improvement and jope to regain mhcateer of ag least finisb out my rretirement. I am so frustrated. My dad doesnt understand it, hd asked me ovef the weekend since I been on meds for ovef 4 mkbths when am I going to get better....I hac no answer. Most of us havd the expectation that drs can correctly diagnose uz, treat us and we get back to life ax we knew in short order......not what I'm experiencing and a very big lef down.

Yes when this started I thought it would be couple months. I never thought I would be losing my job over this and have to retrain for another one all the while supporting myself on a near minimum wage supermarket bottom-of-the-ladder position…. was not in my plans. I am very happy where I am but don't get my wrong… this year had just been full of surprises! I would really love to start dating someone. Not having any family has been so hard on me. But at the same time I feel like nobody would really want to take this mess on… so I don't even look for anyone. Plus I am really not in a place where I would have enough strength to date so it does not matter. Just a huge reality check LOL!

Same here. I spent $8k 6 yrs ago on classes to get my NY state teaching certification updated with the intention of landing a full time science position. Well..... Shortly after, I became ill so I didn't look for work, but instead went to countless doctors looking for help. It took 5 yrs to get the Lyme diagnosis. I start treatment tomorrow (first LLMD appt). Sadly, my teaching license expired again. It was only good for 5 yrs. I needed to land a job in 5 yrs in order to maintain a permanent certification. So now I couldn't get a job even if I was well!!! What a waste of $8k!!! Definitely money I could have spent on the Lyme!

I hope to recover relatively soon so I can get some other non teaching job so I can put some money back into savings. I just don't know what to think. Some members here feel 80% better after several months and others never see improvement at all. It's a crap shoot, that's for sure! I hate to get too optimistic.

This is all so true for all of us in some way. My wife and I want to have a baby but that continues to be pushed back. I can barely take care of myself I can't imagine how you all with kids do it! Also, i don't want to risk passing it on to my wife (if she doesn't already have it) and then to my child. Also, no idea when i will get back to work but i am becoming ok w/ that. Maybe instead of making semi-firm time frames of things happneing (3 months from now etc.) it may be better for us to tell ourselves & family lets put this on hold for the moment and revisit it in 3 months to see where we are at....
