Had to get your attention....lol

I posted my blood work results. Dr. C. asked my GP to do kidney and liver function monthly.

I listed the tests that were done...are these all that are needed? I was wondering if you get more extensive ones done...being Canadian...I don't know if the same ones are offered as the US - we often don't get as extensive testing done...being it's all part of our medical plan.

I think that is standard when you are on heavy abx. I got my liver and kidney tests each month until I switched to herbals, as well as a complete blood count. I know in another post you mentioned lupus.

I had extensive testing for lupus. It's not just ANA titers but highly specific antibody testing. I forget all of them but I promise you never heard of them. Anti histone antibody, anti double stranded antibody....there are a bunch. I went to one of the top hospitals in the country to have lupus ruled out.

Hi Girlie, here are the ones Dr.Chan had me tested for:

Hematology
WBC - white blood cell count, mine was low before but now recovered to normal range! It may have been because of anaplasma!
RBC - red blood cell!
Hemoglobin - protein in RBC that carries oxygen.
Hematocrit
MCV
MCH
MCHC
RDW
Platelet Count - platelets! lol
Differential
Neutrophils Lymphocytes Monocytes - types of white blood cells
Eosinophils - type of wbc
Basophils Granulocytes Immature - type of wbc
General Chemistry
Creatinine Estimated GFR - kidney function! Glomular filtration rate is a sign of kidney function
Gamma GT ALT - I think this one is for liver? if it goes high it means there is excessive alanine amino transferase, and enzyme made by the liver. High liver enzymes in the blood usually is a sign of liver damage.

The red blood cells and white blood cells are made in the bone marrow and these too can be impacted by antibiotics! As in these values might go low! But sometimes it is hard to tell because the infections too can cause low WBC, (anaplasma, erhlichia) and for example Babesia can cause low RBC.

But the kidney function and liver function is critical. If the liver enzymes rev up high, it means your liver cells are dieing off or lysing and releasing enzymes into the blood. Kidneys too get strained with these illnesses.

On another note... Some of the infections can cause high liver enzymes as well!!! And ironically it is actually the abtibiotics that helps bring liver enzymes back down! Yes I read it in a LLMD book so it must be true lol!
