There are a lot of controversies on this "finding a cure" topic. Some say that the government is hiding the fact that borrelia was genetically modified for warfare on plum island and the vectors that they were experimenting with, were most likely ticks and they got away. Others say that they would not give us a cure, even if they found it, because having lyme means being treated for fibromyalgia, MS, and many other disease that lyme mimics. It is more money for medical treatment. This makes sense since the labs approved by the CDC have done nothing to get a better blood test for Borrelia. And the tests that are more accurate such a live blood test, which consists of looking at some of these bacteria from a drop of your blood, a specific urine test that looks for the bacteria or its residues, and some other labs that have better testing are not even considered by the CDC. Also, the CDC has misleading information about lyme infection, they state that the tick has to be engorged (mine wasn't), that it has to be embedded at least 24-36 hours (mine was on me 6-8 hours), they say that treating after the bite may result in more harm than the lyme itself, really? They prescribe doxycycline to a person that has acne. If the CDC said to treat with doxy right after the bite, most us would have been cured and would have never experience the pain of lyme.
