Also, there are non-acid forms of Vitamin C, such as Sodium Ascorbate (pH is near 7, and 7 is neutral).
Some of the citrus fruits like lemons contain eriocitrin and it is metabolized to alkaline by products by bacteria in the GI tract when ingested. If those bacteria are not present, then other pathways would be used and they may not lead to alkaline by products. I've never seen a study showing what would happen if the bacteria have been decimated by antibiotics.
