The states expert Dr. for the Michigan health Depts. relayed a message to me through the local agency today that my positive CDC IGENEX WB test is not going to be considered by them as positive (which is fine with me) due to the fact that my symptoms started four months ago and my positive test didn't include any positive IGG bands, only IGM. The rule is such:

A positive IgM but negative IgG result obtained more than a month after onset of symptoms likely represents a false-positive IgM result rather than acute Lyme disease

I realize that the antibodies don't switch over in everyone that quick, but has anyone ever heard this false positive stuff if not? I'm just wondering what studies they are getting that from.

This is so frustrating and is something I've dealt with, and luckily, succeeded. I had to convince my doctor it was not a false positive even though I found an embedded tick five years before, the mouthpiece broke off, and I had an EM rash.

Yeah they tried to tell me I had a false positive too. I think it's total BS.

What foolishness! It's not very likely for anyone to get antibodies produced for Lyme that fast - science tells us that it takes 4- 6 weeks to produce enough antibodies to show up on these tests - when they work.

They are just continuing to protect their position - the IDSA position.
