My husband's attending Infectious Disease conference.....

My hubby is a pcp. He is attending an ID continuing ed conference in Boston tomorrow. The conference is 3 full days, 8 AM - 5 PM.

Lyme is on the "menu" a whopping 45 minutes! Seriously, what can they possibly cover in that short time? I know, Rx doxy 2 - 4 weeks, and if symptoms persist, refer patient to psychiatry. (Insert eye roll). Lol.

Just curious - how is your PCP husband reacting to all that's happening to you? Has it changed his views about lyme disease...or was he already 'on board'.

^^^ that's my question as well! Wondering how your hubby is reacting to all of this with you and the things you are learning - which isn't exactly supportive of the IDSA's view. Here's that eye roll for you!! eyes

I am curious to how he views what's happening with you as well!! I am kind of dating a surgeon and he is supportive but is skeptical of my treatment. He like things to be black and white so hates that he can't really find a way to help me. Maybe he will learn something at the conference that will help?

Maybe he'll get a chance to open their eyes some after seeing what you've been through. We can hope!

My husband is being very supportive with my treatment and seeing a LLMD. He had never heard of IGenex. He just uses the typical western blot in his office. However, after my experience, he ordered a whole stack of IGenex test kits. He knows now to at least offer it to patients. He also now knows to refer patients to a LLMD. Before he never knew that existed (and neither did I).

I'll be sure to post what he learns about LD at his conference. I can't imagine that he'll learn all that much in 45 minutes! And I wonder if the E Bola will be talked about after today's news of it now being here on the U.S.

I would guess they're going to talk about Ebola. They seem to be downplaying the contagiousness of it. They say you can only get it from body fluids, so no worries about flying. Well, if someone is sneezing, then I'd think that would count as body fluids! Plus, I feel it could be contagious before symptoms appear.

I hope Lyme is discussed enough to get the message out.

I'm so very glad that your hubby is being so supportive!! You just may convert him yet!! wink LOL! We do have Infectious Disease doctors that have been trained by ILADS- they are just a rare breed still!

Please never take any offense at our 'disdain' for ID doc's though - believe me, we are only referring to those that prefer the ostrich approach to Lyme - keeping their heads in the sand!!
