I just saw him last week. I was given his name by someone on here who private messaged me when I needed an LLMD that accepts insurance. She says he was the first to finally diagnose her and she is now healed.
I emailed the doctor's office my symptoms in advance--10 pages of health history/Lyme symptoms over 30 years. I also took all of my recent test resultss with me--even those that were negative. Thankfully, I received my positive Stony Brook lab results the morning of my appointment with Dr. V. (They were ordered two weeks prior through a nationally renowned 'specialist' who begrudgingly ordered the tests at the end of my appointment with her. She ended our visit by saying, "Just because you've had multiple illnesses since childhood doesn't mean you're chronically ill." :-( I KNEW I didn't want to return to her for treatment even IF my test results were positive!)
Dr. V. must have read my history in advance because he spent 10 minutes or less with me in the exam room but was ready to order other tests based on his hunches. He explained why he suspected I might have something else in my genes and that Lyme was just exacerbating it (made sense, I didn't feel that he was dismissing my concerns like other docs have). I am currently waiting on additional test results through LabCorp based on his thorough workup order. He also gladly ordered additional tests through Igenex (out of my pocket, not insurance, of course) and prescribed me doxy. He said I just need to relax and we will revisit when all my results are in in a few weeks. Although the visit was quite short, I felt heard and that he was being very thorough. His receptionsists and nurse are awesome as well.
Good luck to you!
