I have had this issue off and on, and with testing it was determined my addrenals are almost shot, and ALL my hormones are out of whack, too. Which makes sense. My thyroid is holding, but tends to fluxuate.
That being said, I've read in numerous studies and dr's papers that when suffering with L/co, the hormonal/addrenal situation can be heavily taxed and thrown into crises....when this happens, especially throwing in all of the other biological issues stemming from L/co, this can cause the sleep patterns/ability to get to/stay asleep, off in horrible ways.
Some Dr's state that treatment should be first to tend to the L/co, and the rest of the body chemical imbalances will straighten themselves out. Other Dr's state work on the whole person's biology needs at the same time with both L/co meds plus supplements/etc for the other issues, like addrenal support, etc.
If you haven't yet, have you considered maybe addressing the addrenals with an addrenal support to start, might help get things moving back into the right balance? Just a thought. I do know, as you do, too, making any changes takes time, patience, and usually money. Grrrrr.
I hope some of that makes sense, and might help? Good luck and I hope you get regulated in your sleep soon. You deserve it.
