My "LLMD" has clinically diagnosed me with lyme and bartonella. Based on the ILADS guidelines my symptoms more closely mimick Babesia. I have headaches, neck pain, brain fog, and i had rapid onset of initial symptoms.

my question is since my llmd wants me to stay on rifampin and minocycline does anyone have any advice on alternative babesia treatments.

I know artemisinin and buhner protocol are an option. Has anyone tried this? Today is a rough day for me. Ive been at this for 3 months with little to no improvement.

We are having great success with low (1/4 doses) of Buhner's babesia protocol. In consultation with Julie, she did not recommend that we use Artemisia, and if it is used it should only be for a short while.

Rowingmom I was hoping yiu would answer. I have read a ton of your posts. You are very informative.

how long have you been on buhner babesia protocol?

and do you care to elaborate on artemisinin? I have heard such mixed reviews.

We started Buhner's bartonella protocol in April 2013, as soon as our daughter weaned from abx.

We started his babesia protocol in Nov 2013, when on a whim I ordered CSA from WoodLandEssence and trialed it. At dosages of 1/4 tsp (35 drops) BID (2x daily) our daughter developed her first babesia symptoms as a herx reaction. She was then clinically diagnosed with babesia by our LLMD. I refused the option of treating babesia with antibiotics - we have been using only herbs to treat and are now completely asymptomatic.

Our daughter no longer has any indication of her previous diagnoses:

ADHD, Tourette's, Asperger's, motor delay, PANS, bartonella, IND lyme, clinical babesia.

Julie said artemisin should only be used for short periods, and that if it doesn't work during the first trial, then it probably won't be useful.

my llmd put me on cryptolepsis, artemesia, and also in addition to minocycline and rifampin like you, malarone

Hmmm this is all great information. Maybe I can convince my llmd to look at babesia symptoms. She kinda just blew it off. I have head pressure headaches, dizziness, and my initial symptoms happened rapidly. Could be BLO ya never know. I tested negative for everything but that was through quest diagnostics.
