I'll update my treatment history first.

Beg. July doxy, added zithro end of July.
My first LLND appt. was end of Aug. - he switched me to ammox.
Then end of Sept. biaxin was added.

I have herxed with each antibiotic...but the biaxin herxes have been the herxes from h***.

I actually felt better in August, than I do now.
I have been on biaxin for about 4 weeks now. I am having to back off from it every 5-7 days...and let my herxes settle.

Is it possible that I am feeling worse overall now because the biaxin is killing off more bacteria than the previous abx were? Could the biaxin actually be doing a better job...and I just need to hang in there?

I am detoxing like a madwoman...and have purchased burbur and pinella to add to my arsenal.

I am thinking I will give it a couple more months of treament...which will be 6 months mark...and if I don't feel an improvement..then I'll start investigating other things like mold, mthfr, etc.

What are your thoughts??? Is it okay to get worse on an antibiotic..and that is a good thing?

mister mike - I thought resistance wasn't an issue with lyme? please if you have the time - could you tell me what's up with marcons (never heard of it) - how do you know you have it??

girlie - what are your herxes like? then I will be able to have more of an opinon!

Girlie, biaxin is actually a really good lyme drug because it gets into the tissues very well where lyme Likes to go. Just keep taking it. You should get to the point where taking biaxin is just like taking a placebo pill in that it has no noticeable effects on the body.

For me I had 3 weeks of straight tissue pain on the biaxin. Then it was done. But I just took it last week again and it gave me tendon pain yet again, so it is not done yet.

Chapelle - My herxes: One of my symptoms is the chills/shivers. When I herx they are worse, more often. They will hit me in the morning when I wake up.
My pain increases - back - mid and lower - as well as my left shoulder blade, left arm,hand and index finger - I always have that pain, but it worsens.
My anxiety is almost completely gone...until I herx - then it comes back in the morning upon waking, but is gone within an hour.
Also get random pains in different areas - sometimes my butt cheeks, or the middle of my left quad...or a couple days ago both shins were aching...and today my tailbone pain increased.

I also got a new symptom end of August (shortly after switching to ammox) - both shoulders hurt (not the blades, but the top and front) and are stiff...hard to put on jackets.

So, I'm thinking maybe the shoulder pain, and shin pain could be bart coming out because the lyme is getting treated. And I thought I read the chills/shivers could be bart. I do also have foot pain every morning.

I guess what's concerning me is not necessarily the herxes, but between the herxes...I'm not feeling as well as I did in August. So, maybe the herxes aren't completely subsiding....

Happyjo - A couple symptoms subsided early on in treatment - sleep issues (I only waken once during the night, and I'm dreaming again!!), and anxiety. Those have stayed away, but no new symptom abatement.

LymePickle - Well, it's been 4 weeks of biaxin...I guess each time the meds are changed...you can get worse? Maybe the doxy/zithro wasn't doing much killing...and now the biaxin is...

Mister Mike - Thanks - I don't want to even know about marcons...plugging my ears...

I would say that something like Mold or Marcons would be reasons why someone wasn't making progress in their treatments, not reasons for the continued herxing.

I would look more towards detoxing issues, the MTHFR gene mutations and other issues like that.
