I too have suffered from terrible, terrible insomnia! I went for a couple of years waking up more tired than when I went to sleep the night before, only to sit on my bed and cry when daylight would come and I realized that I had to face yet another day with even less sleep.
My insomnia did improve greatly - then I got reinfected!!!!!
and now I'm back into where I'll sleep great for a few nights, then boom!
3 am comes and I'm wide awake!!! Happened last night and try as I might, there was no going back to sleep, so the pups and I get up so as to not wake hubby.
I hate the 3 am hour!!!
The 'wired but tired' is a sign of adrenal issues and anyone with that feeling needs to be sure they are thoroughly tested for adrenal and thyroid issues, as they are quite common issues with Lyme patients. If a person's thyroid or adrenal glands aren't functioning well, it can make it impossible to heal from these infections.
