Hi, so I just posted this and it is not anywhere to be found, so if this comes up twice, sorry.   I went to my NP Friday. She has me on UNDA 1, 20, 243 (these are to help with detox and liver support), Interfase plus (cyst buster), Moltipro (for another issue possible from lyme called SIBO), beneficial yeast, prescript assist probiotic, NAC (liver support), an anti-inflammatory diet, and other healing, immune building digestive things. She wants me to start with some things now and some after I get my antibiotics.   She has referred me to another doctor for the antibiotics because she cannot right prescript ions in this state. This doctor she is referring me to is not an LLMC which made me very nervous. I talked to my NP about this and she said that he is a nurse practitioner for western medicine but is a doctor of Chinese medicine. He also runs the local lyme support group. He treats many of her patients successfully for lyme. NP says that because of my symptoms and my test results she thinks I will need 3 months of antibiotics, but that the new doctor will take charge of my lyme treatment. She believes that I will make a recovery in under a year. She seemed very knowledgeable and new of both of the herbal protocols, Cowden and buhner.   My next appointment with new doc is November 11th and I can't wait. Also, he is in my network and will be covered by insurance. I am super excited and feel really lucky I have found this NP. She is caring and I can tell she really wants to help me.

Sounds like your doc's have things under control!! Wonderful and congratulations!!

I used a Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner the first time around to heal from many long standing chronic tick-borne infections and healed well and quickly!! Good TCM practitioners have a good understanding of how the body needs to be supported and the immune system must be rebuilt in order to get past any kind of serious health issue.

Best of luck and don't forget to detox, detox, detox!!!

Thanks for the comment Traveler. I realize detox is very important, but, is it something that you should start prior to antibiotics or is it something to start after?

Considering the bacteria put off toxins when they die from natural causes or from treatment, your body likely has a lot of toxins already accumulating - and that's not counting the toxins we pick up from everyday living. I always encourage people to start detoxing right away to help lower the chance of herxing badly.

I did 6 months of detoxing and balancing out the body before I ever started my treatments and I healed from a 40+ yr Lyme infection in just 12 months the first time around. This time, I only spent a few weeks detoxing before starting the herbs and herxed pretty good for 3 weeks.

Thanks again! I am going to be taking some things to help my liver so that should help. Also, I have been on a very restrictive diet for over a year. My NP has had me on oregano oil for some time now and I have to say I feel better than I have in a while already. Do you have any quick and easy (and cheep) detox suggestions? I work 40 hours plus have a family so I really have no time for baths and things like that.

Try a foot soak!!! I love the foot soaks - they can be done anywhere in the house and are easy enough to deal with.

Dry skin brushing can be done at night as you change into your pj's.

Drinking at least 64 ounces of lemon water a day will replace many other drinks.

You may wish to schedule time to go to a FIR sauna at a gym or health club or even some doc's offices once a week or so.

You can add binders to your routine - things like activated charcoal and zeolite will bind to the toxins and usher them out through the intestines - although you do have to be careful to not take them within 2 hours (before & after) eating or taking any meds/ supplements/herbs or other things as they will bind to those things instead of the toxins.But they are very effective.

Those and diet changes are the most effective things that I have used. I'd bet that there would be a ton of suggestions from others if you wish to start a new thread with this topic though.

Thanks! I will start a new thread with that topic and ask my doc about the binders. I have made all of the diet changes I can. I only eat fat, protein, veggies and minimum fruit. All organic. I do have 1 cup of coffee on the weekend, my treat. Need to up the water and add lemon.
