I'm pretty early into treatment and, please correct me if I'm wrong but....it seems a cyst buster is part of a successful treatment protocol.

When I had a hot flash in my LLMD's office last time and reported the couple I'd had since the previous appointment, he speculated Babesia and mentioned he might put me on Tindamax at some point. I've since learned that Tindamax is an effective cyst buster but must admit I'm a bit scared to take it due to the black box warning.

Anyway, I've read a few reports on here about people taking GSE I *think* at the same time they were taking doxy.....and then I read this link that states GSE disables the effectiveness of doxy:

wow, never heard of that one! I tried GSE, but I could not tolerate it. My LLMD said cyst busters are not always necessary. I am now in month 2 off antibiotics, and I feel great! so hopefully she is right! I really need to post an update on the forum......!!

Congrats on feeling great after being off antibiotics for 2 months! It's clear to me that you can pat yourself on the back for diagnosing yourself and starting treatment. I've been trying to find your story on here (I read a post where you mentioned doing so but can't find the actual story). I'd be interested to hear it if you're willing to share it....or direct me to the thread in which you did :)

Did your LLMD say why cyst busters are not always necessary? How would anyone know?

In reading threads on here (and the link I shared on this thread), I've developed the impression that they're necessary. And, that link also says that cysts don't cause symptoms.

I know we all want to be d-o-n-e done with Lyme when we finish treatment and that's why I'm researching like crazy and joined this forum.

Again, congratulations on your achievement and may you stay forever free from symptoms!!!

put it this way - I agree, the cyst form of lyme does need to be addressed, but I am doing it a more "natural way" via magnetic therapy. Costs way more than the herbs, but it's a safer way to go! I will post info about this as well. Also, my LLMD has said that some of her patients have indeed been healed from lyme, never took cystbusters, and it hasn't returned. I think it all depends on the individual and the immune system.

I did take serrazymes *(biofilm buster) and teasel root (which draws the lyme out of joints) - so I pretty much covered it all!

I have also read that you can take some breaks in the antibiotic treatment and that will sometimes allow the lyme to feel unthreatened and come out of their cyst form, allowing you to hit them hard again with antibiotics. I dont know if that is something new that is being practiced.., or if it needs more research.

Girlie - you are correct!

now I remember why my LLMD said some people do not need cyst busters - this is because if the lyme does come out again, their immune system is strong enough to fight the lyme without antibiotics. That is what she is hoping for in my case. So far so good!
