Hello, everyone! I am a new member and I am really scared about what is ahead for me. I picked my tick up last weekend, I think it was Saturday working in the yard. I found the adult tick embedded in my side on Monday morning at 6:30 AM. I drove myself to the ER to have the tick removed because I did not have the right kind of tweezers and could barely see the tick to do it myself. They took the tick and gave me 2 tablets of doxycycline. I left and started having tiredness and stomach flu-like symptoms that same day. I first thought it was the doxycycline. I never ran a fever, but just felt sickish in my stomach and intestines with minor body aches. I hate that feeling so much. Fortunately, it comes and goes throughout the day and worse at night. I get upset and start to get the cold chills and shakes. The ER told me to follow up with my primary doctor in 5 days. Unfortunately, I could get in until the 7th day and now I have had two nights of palpitations and scared that now my early stage for treatment has come and gone. I am also worried because I have a reaction to almost every antibiotic out there. I also have a weak intestinal system having ulcerated colitis in my 30's. Which antibiotic would work best while being easiest on my intestines, if I can take it. Will I be sicker taking the antibiotcs? And after reading a lot of your posts, I don't think I can handle all the detoxing and all the other stuff. So much to know and do on top of being sick. How do you all do it? May you all be blessed!

I think many of us are very scared when we first discover what we are dealing with, but with the help of others here, you too will get through this!! This is an amazing group of people that are very compassionate, understanding and helpful!!

First things first though, you need to find a LLMD or LLND in your area that you feel comfortable with. Do you have a preference of using pharmaceuticals over herbs/natural medicines? We can help you get matched up with someone that hopefully isn't too far away depending on where you live.

For information on finding a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor(LLMD) in your area, you can start a new thread titled something like:"Looking for LLMD/LLND in the _______ area." Although you will need to enable your email option in your profile in order to receive any recommendations, as we don't allow doctor's names and contact info to be posted on the forum for several reasons. You can enable your email option in your profile, under 'edit profile'. Be sure to click the submit button to actually save your preference.

You will want to find an ILADS (International Lyme And Associated Diseases Society) trained doctor, as ID Docs (Infectious Disease Doctors) believe Lyme is hard to catch and easy to treat, and don't believe in the reality of chronic Lyme. Welcome, just take things one step at a time,
Diet change is super important, as well as detoxing
And finding the right way to heal, I like herbs, antibiotics make me super sick, but I didn't know I had LD for 3 years.
