Low red blood count-anyone here have?

I am curious & the concern for family always looming...

My grown offspring just called & said she was having some heart palps & dizziness, & just now got an eval from the PCP today that she has hyperthyroidism and that her red blood cell count is very low.

She's been pretty darn healthy all these years, but of course--my first thoughts surround the fear of these vermin ...

So I just want to pose the question out of curiosity, is low red blood count a commonality with any folks here?

Just found this on lovely CDC site:
"Because Babesia parasites infect red blood cells, babesiosis can cause hemolytic anemia (from the destruction of red blood cells." Gawd, I hope not. ~jo

Yes, I too have below range red blood cell counts as well as low WBC. Low red is most likely from my babesia infection. Bart also attacks red blood cells, but in a different way than babs. There are other conditions that can cause low red counts, but they escape me at the moment.

Low white is most like from taking ABX and my body recognizing that it doesn't need to produce many white blood cells.

It is relatively common with babesia, can happen with lyme. It pops up every now and then on the forum. Sorry she is feeling ill.

There are some herbs/supplements she can take that are supposed to help protect RBC. I used a good quality vitamin B, garlic protects RBC, and sida acuta is also supposed to protect RBC as well.

Hope she gets it figured out! Is she doing okay aside from the low RBC?

My daughter's thyroid was high the last time it was checked, which surprised me with the improvements she had. She used to have hypothyroidism until a fever corrected it. He said he has an herbal to help with it, but hasn't put her on it yet.

I don't blame you for being worried about your daughter. Nobody wants to see their child go through this, but at least you know about it and can get her tested if you feel the need. It was over 10 years before we knew our daughter had Lyme. Hopefully yours doesn't' have it and will bounce back soon.
