On a death wish....

Well, I ramped up my houttuynia dose to the full 30 drops 3 times a day. It's been 3 days now, and still no herx! I was kind of hoping to have a herx so I could identify if I have Bart.

I wonder if no houttuynia herx = no Bart?

My other news is that I am feeling much better! This is because I switched off of doxy and went back on mino. My fatigue, anxiety, and weakness have all lessened back to my original base line. So I have not made overall improvement, I just feel less sick from being on the doxy.

Not everyone will experience a herx. Usually herbs are more slow acting, but not always, and your mileage may vary.

I found that trying to treat Babs and Bart at the same time is a difficult combination while on Lyme ABX too. But looking at Buhner's latest core protocols for bart and babs there does seem to be some overlap.

I treated for over a year with herbal combinations of Cat's Claw, Banderal, Japanese Knotweed, and CSA blend, while switching between babs (Mepron, Bactrim, Coartem combos), and bart (Rif, mino, plaquinel) ABX protocols. Started oral ABX way back in March 2010, moved to IV in Dec 2011 for 16 months, and started to mix in herbs in 2013.

Progress was slow and still struggling with the last 10 to 15%. Started Levaquin today for my Bart death wish...

Yes, it will be 5 years of treatment next March. I have mostly neuro sx left, sleep disturbances, fatigue, and of course... my mind is still gone (but improving). After IV resolved most of my arthritic issues, my LLMD thought I had a Mepron resistant strain of Babs, so that why we switched to mix in some of Buhner's herbs. Not much made any difference, and herbs for me are more costly than my ABX co-pays.

Last year my LLMD decided to make one more run at Bart to see if that was what holding me back. Rifampin, mino and plaquenil put me in herx hell for 8 weeks, then I made good progress from 50% to about 80% where I've plateau'd for the past year.

Levaquin is very toxic, and its my last shot. To be honest it's the first time I've been nervous about starting a new ABX since beginning treatment.

Yes. I plan to stick with my Buhner herbs for 4-5 months and then re-evaluate. I'm taking full doses of Jap Knotweed, sida acuta, houttuynia, Hawthorne, milk thistle.

I have no news to report on these herbs so far. But it's only been a few days on the full dose.
