llmd vs llnd

Just wondering the difference between llnd and llmd. Is there treatment the same? Thanks in advance.

A llnd is a naturopathic doctor and a llmd is a medical doctor. I prefer a llnd because they don't only prescribe antibiotics. They tend to know more about supporting the immune system and hormones and adrenals...etc. They learn in school to treat the body as a whole and are focused on balanced and supporting the body's natural healing capabilities.

But they are both specialists in lyme. Their schooling is different. I think the perspective naturopath gain in medical school is a lot more interesting and useful. They are usually cheaper too. I don't think as many take insurance though but it all depends.

Have you been diagnosed?

I go to an office where you see one of the "underling" llnds or physician assistants and then occasionally see the big chief. That's common in the area I live in.
My first appt was the first week of May. I go every 6 weeks. Six weeks ago when I was scheduling my appt for today the office manager said you haven't seen Dr X yet have you? Let's get you on the schedule.

I am so comfortable and confident in the LLND I am seeing that it will be interesting to see how I fell about the big wig Dr.

I have been dealing with Dr's for the last 6-7 years. My spine is bad from degenerative damage. Eight years ago I had never had surgery. I've had 5 major surgeries and 4 or 5 minor procedures in the last six years. Of the 7-8 doctors I've dealt with 3 were skilled, compassionate and truly cared. The rest ranged from lousy to I could have taken a Stanford neurosurgeon to the state medical boards and had him dinged.

If you find a LLMD or an LLND that you feel is listening to you and really cares about how you are feeling, tailors your treatment specifically to you and your symptoms and imo most importantly you feel at ease talking freely to him or her go with that person. Don't decide because of the ND or MD. You have to have a comfort level, that's vital. The LLND I am seeing is calm (which elevates my stress) and has the answers to my questions before I ask them based on my responses to how have I been feeling in the last six weeks and what changes have occurred.
Do check that in your state an LLND can write prescriptions. In CA they can and insurance will cover them.

Yes, please be careful to check if that's something you wish to use. I know that here in Arkansas, the only medical professionals that can prescribe abx are regular MD's -no one else.

Interesting note, only MD's can admit someone into the hospital too - which is why I have one of those, just in case.

All you have to do is call the office of one ND and ask if the state allows them to prescribe abx - or you can likely find out on the internet.
