Does the use of antibiotics affect the results from blood work?
Could the use of them before bloodwork is done produce either false positives or false negatives?
Same questions but regarding herb protocols.
Thanks

Yes, both can affect the results of the test- but it's in a positive way.
The WB is looking for antibodies, and since Lyme keeps the immune system from producing those in larger numbers, the WB often comes back with false negative results, especially in chronic Lyme. If Bartonella is also an infection that the person is dealing with, then the immune system is even further compromised.
Abx (pharma or herbal) will help lower the bacterial load so that the immune system can "see" the invaders (bacteria), produce antibodies, and attack the bacteria. This is what the tests need to have an accurate result. If the person doesn't have the bacteria, the body won't produce those antibodies, so there are very, very few false positives.
All the stories about
false positives are only misinformation trying to confuse those seeking treatment.
I hope this helps!!

I took antibiotics for about
a month before my Igenex testing and I got positive results for the first time ever. I'd been tested before always with a negative result, although through different labs. My cd57 raised almost 20 points too! So I know it helps get your immune system going.
All of my confection testing was done through lab Corp and my titers were sky high. I never thought I'd test positive for anything in a million years.. and wow. The "antibiotic challenge" really worked for me.
Good luck!!

Thanks guys :)
(and like we need misinformation, just in case we are not all confused enough, hey Traveler ;) )
I want to start on the herbs, since they have arrived, and aren't exactly sure when I'll be able to get the blood tests done.
Onward and ....upward?? :)
