Excellent question! I have wondered that myself, from the Lyme colonies as well as the Bartonella colonies, clumps or whatever they are called.

I think so, too.
I did get a blood clot with my acute lyme infection & I have been desperately trying to find someone else that got one, too.

IF you do clot… check for DNA mutations that present MTHFR issues with methylation. I am definitely susceptible, given my M677T mutation and family history.

I am heterozygus, I have one of each for MTHFR.
However, I was tested by a hematologist for every clotting issue under the sun & I had ZERO. The hematologist chalked it up to damage of the vein at the bite site.
The clot definitely seemed due to lyme & co.
Oh, it would be comforting to find someone else that this happened to.

I had an aunt and a grandparent who were tested for clotting issues and nothing could be found. But they both had problems. Of course, they were never tested for mutations but as they say, "it's all in the family!"

Get your fibrinogen levels tested. Most doc's don't test blood fibrinogen but, high levels of this are a better indicator of heart attacks and strokes than is cholesterol. And I would think it would also be related to blood clots.... since that's the purpose of fibrinogen, to clot blood.

I was looking through my bloodwork from my early acute lyme & my platelet count was super HIGH. Perhaps attempting to repair my hugely, bruised and damaged bite site and thus causing the clot on the bite leg.
Or, even b/c I was so damaged (all organs & systems so severely) the platelets had so many places to repair in my body that the clot occurred.
I had my fibrogen checked in Nov, 5 months after acute infection, and it was normal.

My mother does carry 1 gene for pernicious anemia.
I told the doc this over & over, but never received testing or a response.
So, I could carry 2 of them (skips a generation),
Could this cause clotting factors?

I also had a clot at my bite site which was on the back of my knee,it did move to my lower leg and disappeared.Scary

Cairn- were you put on coumadin & lovenox?
How long were you on blood thinners?
Did they know at time that your clot was bite related?

Also check copper levels.
