1. Just took zithro for 3 weeks (on one week, off one week), went to er twice for facial, arm and leg numbness, muscle weakness, tremors... very scary! On doxy 2x a day for two weeks (i know it probably wasnt effective), felt like crap for a few days after i was off it, DOES ANYONE HERX AFTER ANTIBIOTICS?
2. Er dr. Said zithro has no effect on lyme, read in my treating lyme book that it does... DOES ZITHRO HAVE ANY EFFECT?
3. Does anyone have symptoms worsen during menstrual? My skin gets itchy, dry and i sweat at night during the day!
4. Does lyme favor one side of your body more than the other?

Dont have all the answers, but experiance w/ some....firstly....dr. horowitz prescribed zithro for me...and my feeling is that hes probably more knowledgeable about
what meds r effective w/ lyme than the er doc. It might not specific to lyme...but maybe works in one of the forms lyme morphs into.
Also, when i go off meds feel like garbage....i dont know, but wonder if its the microbes moving. ( they drill deep to hide from abx....then come out when stopped...thinks that may b why docs pulse abx) heard they shed toxins when they move...so that might b why we feel not good.
Dont track my symptoms closely enough to realize when they worsen.
Lastly, yes, lyme for me does effect one side more than the other....its been more R for the past few years...but recently seemed to switch now to L.

Oh yes, everything gets worse for me during a cycle and yes, Lyme can favor one side more than the other. That can also be a sign of bartonella, too. At times, it's as if my right side was being attacked.

First of all, assume all doctors other than LLMD's don't have a clue about
tick-borne infections - if anything you will get false information from them. Heck, I even double check LLMD's!
As others have said, yes, Zith can be effective against these infections.
Both Doxy and Zith - and many other abx can make you herx while you have Lyme disease. Many times we will have delayed reactions to things like abx and stress - but you aren't really herxing once you stop the abx, that would be an increase in symptoms due to the infection surging once again.
Many women find that their symptoms worsen around the time of their menstrual cycle.
Some people do find that their symptoms affect one side more than the other, but not all.

Listen to ur gut.

Hi Tbohl, well, while the ER is great if you are having an 'emergency' and need help, they are just not equipped to help with chronic illness such as lyme. Especially Lyme. I have learned the hard way, gosh I dont even know how many discharge papers from the ER over the past 3-4 years (mainly the first year when I was sick and craziness was taking over my body and didnt know it was lyme). In the best laymens terms-they dont know ish at the ER about
lyme!
Omg, I remember one of the visits I had to explain what a co-infection was to a doctor. Its ridiculous & sad.
Oh! and the last time I went to ER about
a year ago when I was having a crazy so sick nauseated, couldnt sleep for 3 days, shaking tremors, intense herx (so scared I thought I was going to start having a seizure at any moment is why I went), well, they discharged me with a stomach virus! The only good about
that visit was the IV fluids made me feel a wee lil better AND I distinctly remember the take-home paper having an extra info printed on the back about
"Lyme disease becoming more prevalent & prevention facts".....Im always happy to see awareness in an unexpected place (made me think they are starting to educate doctors more *HOPEFULLY).
All in all though I will say, my motto has always been "Better safe than sorry" so an ER visit is justified when anything seems too alarming you dont want to take any chances.
At any rate, to answer your Q...yes zith has activity against lyme, bart & babesia. Zithromax is to penetrate your tissues better. Def has its place in treatment.
Also, *FOR SURE*, if you are female, lyme sync's up with your menstrual cycle and flares at this time. This may even be considered the monthly "growth cycle' time that lyme is best killed with the abx in. (Hence keep in mind will be the hardest herxing time-so hold on tight!). I also flare around ovulation time(fyi which is approx 14 days give or take after the first day of your mense's start day).
Regarding favoring one side of body, I have read for some it can. Lyme doesnt play by the rules unfortunately.
Make sure when you are herxing hard that you make extra sure all your detox pathways are
open and you are using what detox methods you have available to you. This will shorten the herx and make things easier.
~~Hope your feeling better soon~~

Your welcome Tbohol.....lol yep too early for menopause at 25 for sure! ;-) Ive heard in a few places that when the lyme symptoms start lessening up with your period, you know you are getting better!
