Well I thought I would share my little victories (well they are huge to me actually). I still have a decent amount of Lyme symptoms (haven't started treatment under an LLMD yet but I have been working on diet and taking supplements for years - just found out it's Lyme a couple of months ago). But, two days ago I graduated college and received my undergraduate degree! I had to drop out a couple of years ago (due to Lyme - but didn't know it at the time), but I came back and finished up strong. I might have even gotten a 4.0 GPA my last semester! Not only that, but on the same day that I graduated I met up with my favorite professor and a long-time idol of mine and he just got funding for a project that he has been planning for over 30 years. It's not a firm job offer yet but he wants me to do down to the Peruvian Amazon and trek around the jungle to discover new plant medicines with him (and get paid to do it!). It's my dream job! I can't believe it. It's literally the best possible outcome that could have happened. That's what I was born to do and I was honored to be selected for this project. We're going to discuss more details after the holidays and I can't wait!

I'm seeing an LLMD on January 6th so I'm hoping that I can start treatment for a couple of months before I go down to the jungle (sounds like it's ~6 months out before the first project). But I have to go to the jungle, even if I'm not entirely healed by then. I've learned to function at the level that I'm at so if I get a little better or even just stay the same it's worth it to be to postpone the rest of my treatment for my dream job. Wish me luck!

Please feel free to share some of your little victories in this thread as well! (I know we have a couple of threads like that but I thought another positive thread wouldn't hurt, let me know if you disagree)

Those seem like a big victory's to me!! Congratulations on both! That job sounds very interesting, so I hope it works out for you. Who knows, maybe you'll find something that can be used against Lyme. I hope you'll come back and tell us about your trip. Good luck on the treatments!

That's really wonderful!! And a huge CONGRATULATIONS!!!! on graduating!!! turn yeah :-)

And, I wouldn't postpone your treatments, just stick with oral abx and take them with you!! Within 6 months, you will likely be set in your treatment and won't be herxing, so it will be just taking your meds and eating right - besides, those abx will likely be helpful with you being out in the jungle!

wink and I'm a bit jealous!! What an opportunity!! That would be such an awesome job!! I hope all goes well and that you get started and find a good treatment routine for you, you tolerate it well, that you have a blast going to the Peruvian Amazon for your new job and that you stay healthy while there (please use mosquito netting!! They don't call them nature's dirty needle for nothing!!!) - oh and so much more!!!

Oh I'll definitely be looking out for a full-on cure for Lyme disease. You guys will be in my mind the whole time! Wouldn't that be cool if I actually found something that would work for Lyme? Haha.

Traveler - great idea, I think that's the smarter move. I see my LLMD in 2 weeks and I'll ask what they have to say. Hopefully most of the herxing will be out of the way by then and I could continue treatment out of country while still being able to perform my job duties. Hopefully I heal fast! And wow, that monkey sounds terrifying! Especially if you are trying to sleep I bet.

Mister Mike - no way, that's incredible! I would love to hear more about your experiences sometime if you ever feel like writing a few of them up.
