Red root helps microcirculation as well. My hands, nose and feet used to be really cold. We went to the Science Museum in Quebec City this summer and they had a thermal scanner. My whole family looked nice and warm, but all you could see of me was my nose, hands and feet. It was crazy - everyone was laughing at me!
Red root has also helped the painful numbness and tingling that I would get a night. I would wake several times a night in pain, especially in my hands/arms. I would have to dangle them down the side of the bed to bring circulation back before going back to sleep. Honestly they were so painful I would almost cry.
Buhner says red root helps to stop rouleaux, a condition produced in both bartonella and babesia, that causes red blood cells to roll in clumps across the surface of endothelial tissue. When this happens in the smaller vessels it hinders circulation.
My tingling and night time numbness have stopped since starting this herb.
