What is a good anti nausea med?

The rifampin is making me very pukey every day. What is a good anti nausea med I can take?

I get nausea quite often. I do pretty well with a mint tea —or just chewing a sugarless mint gum for a bit. But with my recent gallstone episode, I was given in the ER—plus given a script for future episodes—for Zofran. It helped that night.

I use a lot of ginger and peppermint. I also have prescriptions for zofran and promethezine. Not sure how to spell that but I'm pretty sure it's phenergan. I find that zofran is good for immediate relief, and the other one works for longer periods of time.

I was warned not to take nausea pills unless is was an emergency. I guess they are pretty bad for you.

Ginger is good. I take a supplement every day and, as a result, my motion sickness is gone. You can also try wearing the wrist bands, which are a type of acupressure. You can find those at Wal-Mart, packaged for pregnant women and for cruise ship travel. Good luck.

Ok thanks. The nausea is severe and ginger or peppermint won't cut it. I've been taking 2 phenergan at night and even that takes awhile to kick in.

I may need to quit the rifampin.

Nausea is the pits!!! So sorry you're dealing with this utahgal!! ((hugs))

Are you 100% positive the Rifampin is to blame?

Nausea is also listed as a side effect for Tindamax and that's why I'm asking....

Yes, it's the rifampin. No doubt at all. Had it before the tindamax was added. And it begins about 30 minutes after I take the rifampin at 3:00 everyday.

I've been on the rifampin a full month now. I was hoping to make it another 2 months. But it is extremely hard to tolerate the level of nausea that I am experiencing. It's not mild nausea. It's very severe.

I'm taking a med break today. I decided to give my body a break from all abx today.

Not sure how to deal with the severe nausea.

I take Zofran, but the pill form didn't work for me so I take one that dissolves under my tongue. When I take the full 8mg it makes me drowsy, but if I only take half (4mg) I don't feel too tired.
