I just read an online newspaper article about adrenal fatigue, and it's got me thinking about it again . . . does lyme cause adrenal fatigue? I'm pretty sure there's a connection but is this a recognised thing? Before I got so seriously ill, over 2 years ago, I was suffering lots of "little" symptoms which, in hindsight, could have been lyme related (severe headaches, heart palpitations, anxiety, panic attacks etc), and one of them was this huge panicky feeling at the slightest thing, as well as lots of things mentioned in the article (tiredness, lack of motivation, irritibility etc). Since becoming so ill, I also noticed what I described to my husband as a really exaggerated startle reflex - for example, if we were driving and a car appeared unexpectedly (but not dangerously), I would get this huge wave of shock/panic washing through me. I just couldn't control it, it was ridiculous. Even now, if I hear a noise or someone enters a room unexpectedly or something, I nearly jump out of my skin! Is this adrenals? Any thoughts? Any treatment??
The article, by the way, is here (sorry, don't know how to make it a smaller link):
