Hard Vein in thigh?

I got all kinds of crazy rashes on my legs a few days ago. They all left but a couple stayed. On the inside of my right thigh and behind my left knee there are what I think are veins that feel really hard. You can see them, they are purple. I don't think that they have always been there. It's kind of like I have pencils or ropes in there.

Has anyone here had this? I'm treating for Bartonella right now and my doctor said it's probably not a big deal but wants me to come in and get checked for blood clots just in case. I've been having a hard time breathing since before I noticed these. My legs have been swelling up here and there too, but that's always kind of happened too.

I thought if you had a blood clot in your leg it would just progressively get worse, not go back and forth. UGH! I hate making the 2 hour drive to probably just be told I'm fine.

didn't you say you were having bleeding issues? I think that can happen if you have varicose veins in your uterus - not sure if you have that, but the "hard veins" sound varicose like to me. do not know of the connection btwn this and lyme and co though. maybe others will have more of an insight.
