What goes with Ceftin and Tindimax?

I'm trying to add biaxin back in one more time. If I develop a rash again, then my Dr. wants me to call him right away...and he will change to something else.

I know he is thinking of putting me on Rifampin and doxy in a month or so to get the bartonella.

Do they go with Ceftin?

Not sure why he doesn't suggest minocycline...hasn't yet...and has put me on doxy in the beginning of treatment. But I would like to try mino.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

I think biaxin is a good choice and gets the lives in cell form. I would say either ceftin + biaxin + tinidazole or ceftin + minocycline + tinidazole. Either combo will hit lyme in the cell wall, intracellularly, and in the cyst.

But mino has the advantage of getting into the nerves and brain better. Biaxin has the advantage of getting into the tissues better. Joints, muscles, tendons, etc. So maybe alternate the 2?

I take planquinil with the two. No idea why though.

I read plaquenil - increases effectiveness....not sure how, though.

Plaquenil improves the effectiveness of macrolides by 40%. The reason why it does this is because it is a weak base so it slightly alkalizes the intracellular compartments of our cells. The macrolides are more stable and effective with a higher pH. Lyme also has a tendency to make cells more acidic which also reduces the effectiveness of the macrolides. Plaquenil offsets this acidic environment. Also people tend to feel better if they are more alkaline and pathogenic bacteria have a more difficult time in this environment.
