Intro & Question

2 to 4 weeks of antibiotics, although the protocol, has been found by many of us to be insufficient even if you did get the infection very early on.

When my son first showed me a bullseye I had ask my Llmd how long she would keep him on antibiotics if it were her son and she said at least 4 months.

That being said, do know know exactly when u got bit because many times the illness can lie dormant or resurface many years later so eventho you think you just got sick, it could have been in your body much longer, and thus take much more to eradicate.

Did you test positive or were you diagnosed clinically based on symptoms?

I finally tested positive through Igenix, both IgM and IgG (not exactly sure what that means though). I've tested negative 3 times before this, but not through Igenix. My LLNP says it's Lyme and Babesia.

I have no idea when I got bit. But my illness literally came on overnight. One day I was fine, the next I was a total mess. No recollection of a tick bite, no rash. My initial symptoms were also not really flu-like. It was more like a constant anxiety attack coupled with incredible fatigue, dizziness and loss of balance.

With all my negative tests, plus my knowledge of Lyme (at the time), I really didn't think that was it. I was told maybe MS, maybe Lupus, maybe Fibro... I finally gave up on doctors about a year ago, but met literally 4 people within about 4 months who lived within a mile of me who had Lyme and who said my story sounded so much like theirs. It was like the universe was kicking me in the ass saying "PAY ATTENTION!"

The saddest part for me is that my PCP's instinct that it was Lyme was right on. If he had had the proper knowledge on how to treat, I could have been so much better off.

Thanks all for the warm welcome! I did peruse the "New to Lyme" thread, but it was pretty overwhelming, I'll probably have to revisit in small doses.

I'm not currently looking for an LLMD. My friend with Lyme recommended her practitioner, and she's been to several. I'm seeing a Natural Doctor, not an MD at this point, but have the name of a good LLMD here in the Bay Area (which is where I'm located), but thank you.

I'm sure I'll have questions along the way.

Yes, most say that the "New to Lyme?" thread is overwhelming, so it's good to take what applies to you now and just remember to keep going back to it to look for more information. I still go there looking for information to share with others.
