So I don't want to get into too much of a back story, I got but by a tick on May 21st and did a month of doxy starting at the end of July because I didn't notice the symptoms until then. I'm still having muscle and joint problems and so I began cefotraixone a couple weeks ago. I got about
10 days in and started having very adverse reactions. A few hours after the injections I'd get a high fever after the third day fever went of 104 and I had a tingly red rash on my body so I went to the ER. They made me stay at the hospital several days until my white blood cell count wasn't so low and took me off the cefotraixone. At this point the doctor gave me two options. Oral doxy for 30 to 60 days or pennicil g through an iv. They had me keep the pic line until I decide. Does anyone know if pennicilin g is effect in lyme treatment or would be better than doxy? At this point I'm thinking I will just go the oral route and push for the full 60 days. Originally I thought an iv would be more effect and my doctor suggested we try this first but looking at all the research I see online oral doxy is just as effect as ceftriaxone or pennicilin g and on the illads website it says pennicilin g is not very effective but there is a lot of medical research I found online using it. There is also a chance I'd get an adverse reaction to it because it is similar to ceftriaxone. Any advise?
Also, this isn't the only thing I'm doing. Just what insurance will cover, I have been treating this holistically with supplements, banderol, and Byron white products for several months now. Just want to add in what antibiotics my insurance will cover. This is through an id doctor.
