LLMD

Welcome to the forum. I am sorry your daughter is having such a hard time. There are very few LLMDs that accept insurance and usually they don't accept all insurances. My dr. only accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield. All of the herbs you mentioned are used by members here and I plan to get them this weekend, too. Maybe someone from NC will see your post, but it would be better if you would start a new thread with NC in the title, like: "looking for LLMD in NC"  so that you get more responses. Has she been treated and tested for co-infections? Often times another bacterial infection along with lyme is preventing us from recovering from Lyme.

I've been hit 2 times with treatment for Lyme and I am not the only one here. Also, now my 10 year old son is  struggling with it. There is also a condition called HPU that I believe my son has. Some drs believe that HPU has to be addressed in addition to treating lyme and parallel to treating the co-infections for the treatment to give results. Also, metal toxicity, mold and other issues may prevent one from recovering. It sure is a very complex disease and sometimes going to a dr. that accepts insurance but doesn't understand the complexity of the disease won't get you anywhere. I tried that, too. I don't think any of us willfully want to give up our money--we just don't have many choices.

You will find a lot of info on this forum about the herbs and how people use them. You can also use the search box to find older posts on the herbs you mentioned. I did improve after treatement for 1 year with lots of different antibiotics but it wasn't until I was treated for bartonella in addition to lyme.

With all these infections and having problems  for so long, she probably needs a lot more treatement. There are people that treated for 7 years or more! It's tough for all of us. Yes, oral antibiotics are much cheaper--that is what I used. There are people that after doing abx for a while switch to herbal abx. Hashimoto may be caused by Lyme and if she heals from Lyme, she may get her thyroid condition reversed. It doesn't happen with everyone, but it does with some.

I agree, we should be allowed to treat ourselves. We would to a better job than the infection disease drs, that's for sure!  I started to use propolis, for about a week.  I am trying in first and then I will give it to my son.  I don't know if it works for all the bacterial infections, but I am trying to keep him afloat until we get to the LLMD because there are no openings until March 9.  My son is only 10, so I understand your pain!  I got the propolis on line from amazon.  You can look it up and see if you think it may work.  I think it was about $20 for a month.  It won't break the bank!  I know someone who used it for 20+ years and she is now 50 and still able to hold on a full time job, although she was a mess at some point, in and out of the hospital.  She uses other stuff, but as an antibiotic, she only uses propolis.  Please make sure you do your own research and see if it covers all infections.

Don't give up, hang in there!  Maybe rowingmom will be of more help.  Her daughter made amazing progress.

If you haven't yet, please do read through our "New to Lyme? Start Here!" thread even though you and your daughter are really "new" to Lyme. It's packed full of important information that you could find to be quite useful!

I do have a list of LLMD's and while I don't have any clue which ones take insurance and which ones don't, we could certainly start with the ones on the list for NC and work your way outwards from there if you wish. Just send me an email if you wish to do this.

You will need to enable your email option through your profile in order to get recommendations though as we don't post LLMD names and contact info in order to protect them from persecution.

And we can treat ourselves with natural protocols! That is also an option that you have - many of us here are using natural protocols - I'm one as there are no LLMD's in my state at all.
