Does bartonella herx?

I've read from those who question that what we may perceive as a herx could just as well be a reaction to new medications or simply increasing things we already take. They have gone so far as to call it malpractice and dangerous medicine by LLMDs who support the herx interpretation. I can see where that is a certainly a possibility, and I would think one should question new symptoms that arise. However, when your current symptoms get much worse I think we have to consider it is a herx and not an adverse reaction to medication or herbals.

Isn't a herx defined as a worsening of your existing systems and not a bunch of new ones? In my case it's only the same bart-like symptoms that have really flared since adding a new abx, so I have to assume it's herx.

i've been on bactrim over a year and have done stints of rifampin and rifabutin and i can tell you the rifamycin class of drugs hits all sorts of things.

its a biofilm buster, lyme/bart killer and persister drug. its mechanism of action is quite unique as it inhibits the synthesis of RNA which no other class of antibiotic does. something about this mechanism hits most double walled gram negative pathogens like bartonella quite hard.

bactrim doesn't hit babesia all that hard but it does some. it also hits lyme and bartonella so another good staple to have.

I'm glad I'm not having any new symptoms. My apparent herx is just a worsening of the ones that have been coming and going for months plus today a resurgence of some that have been gone for months. It took until the one week mark on the bactrim for it to hit, but the first few days taking I was feeling some improvement.

Unless its the bactrim is hitting lyme hard I have to agree with others that bart does herx.

And that is the question. Bactrim does hit lyme - doesn't always hit bart hard enough.

I say warriors because we truly are! This is a very cruel disease to have been that most of us have been traumatized by the medical community and also by family members and friends. I found this forum thank God recently cause i am feeling defeated. I don't know if my history pops up when I post, but it's a very long story. I posted earlier some questions starting a bartonella protocol. I am having extreme herx also taking Biaxin, just added rifampin 4 days ago, taking core Dandi blend, burbur p , and just added houttuynia and also taking nystatin for in case of yeast. I also had read that bart doesn't cause herx , but i def am. Been suffering with this for a long time 4 years. I don't have active Lyme now i had it 19 years ago, and was symptom free for all that time pretty much. Until i had a trauma and stress when covid plagued us . Anyway, i was wondering why so many lyme and co infected people claim to have mold??? What is the correlation w Lyme? I was also tested for mold and my old llmd told me to move. I never smelt mold or saw it. Lived in a very nice place but moved anyway. my test showed mold but my new llmd who does mold illness said its not a concern. I cannot take the binders because it pulls out the ssri i take that I'm weaning off nulls it out so i detox in sauna. Anyway , was wondering about the mold ?? why only lyme people have it? any advice would be great. struggling here feel scared i won't get well. Thank you.
