In more than a few articles about
Lyme I have found that people infected with Lyme and Co have a difficult time recovering from a dentist visit, sometimes taking two or three days to recover. I am very inquisitive and could not understand why this would be an issue.
Not having found a notable explanation, I concluded that perhaps it was the anxiety of being with the dentist. Perhaps it had to do with the numbing procedure or chemicals used to clean/bleach the teeth. Who knows right?
But I recently read an article (
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4038976/) that has found that using ultrasound waves on the blood-brain barrier
opens it up and allows for brain drug delivery. They are considering using this to treat Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
So I wonder if perhaps the vibrations from the dentist's tools are creating a similar effect allowing the abx already in the blood to cross the brain-barrier and thus causing a major herx from the massive kill-off of bacteria?
One of the reasons that reminded me to post this question is that I bought one of those vibrating toothbrushes to clean my teeth and found the vibrations very uncomfortable. Well, after two days of using it I suddenly have a major herx that I wasn't anticipating. Nothing in my diet or treatment has changed and I am not due for any cycles for a few more weeks.
