Bart herx = sweats?

I have had hot flashes and sweats - both at night and during the day.
My LLND didn't know for sure, but thought it was my adrenals (not my female hormones).

But, the last week and a half, they have gotten worse during the day.

I added Sida Acuta and cryyptolepis about 6 weeks ago - and am up to 25 drops of sida only 10 drops of Cryptolepis.
Two weeks ago I added Houttuynia - and have gotten up to 12 drops in the last few days.
Yesterday and today I had the worst sweats. Happened 3 or 4 times each day....and not just my face/forehead and neck, but my back was sweating.

Aren't sweats usually from Babesia. Could it be a Bart herx? My LLND doesn't think I have Babesia...
Has anyone had sweats as a bart symptom?
As I'm typing this, my left rib is throbbing with pain....that symptom has been gone for several weeks. I know rib pain is usually attributed to Bart.

Hi Girlie-

I know Sida Acuta and cryyptolepis is part of Buhner's protocol for Babesia. Last year for several months I had severe night sweats but this was long before I knew I had lyme & co. I had this a couple more times when I first started treatment with Doxy, but I have yet to have them again when I treat specifically for Babesia which I think is weird.

Why does your LLMD think you don't have Babesia? Do they know about the sweats? I don't think you need to have a long list of ALL the most common symptoms to conclude that there is a good probability you have something be it Bart, Babs, or any other co-infection.

My LLMD doesn't think I have babesia either. I tested negative for all coinfections. But we all know how that goes.

about 2 weeks in after starting rifampin, I was getting drenching night sweats. And sometimes during the day too. LLMD said it was a herx to the rifampin.

I have no idea. I'm as confused as you! Lol.

lymie mom - He doesn't think I have Babesia, because my symptoms seem to line up more with bartonella.

I have read that Babesia usually (not always) - is more sudden onset and you feel really unwell.
Thanks for the link - listed under Bartonella symptoms - was sweats. So, it's hard to figure.

My Dr. is leaning more towards bart because I have a lot of nervous system issues. - nerve pain, buzzing/vibrations, shivers, anxiety (minor now since treatment),
Also, my circulatory system is affected. (I sometimes have venous pooling on the tops of my feet).


Utah - sounds like you herxed from the Rifampin - I would think that's leaning toward Bartonella?

It's all such a puzzle.

Girlie, I've had this happen to me too. I don't think it's a bart herx, more of a flair up and a kind of symptom. I only had this symptom when I wasn't taking much of anything for bart and when it was coming back. As I got the bacterial load down it goes away.

To be honest when i first got sick, I actually thought I had Babesia too!!! Lol just because I was getting those hot flashes and sweats so often. But I really don't think that anymore. Both my docs said that the night sweats people with babesia have are pretty much every night and they are drenching. Mind you that did happen to me once when I first got sick. But I have had no evidence of any other babesia symptoms. Apparently those with babesia are 3 times sicker than those without it.

Lymepickle - that's not what I wanted to hear...lol. I was hoping it was a herx...not a ramping up of bart symtoms....yikes!

Girlie, you are only on 1 bart specific antibiotic. Bart can still do what it does on just 1 antibiotic. It needs to be a combination in order to start reducing numbers.

Even when I was on minocycline alone, it was still very active!

Yes LP - just the biaxin antibiotic for bart.

But, I am on two herbals - sida acuta, and houttuynia for bart.

I'm really trying to convince myself it's a bart herx!

Lol I sometimes message someone that has lyme too... Omg he was on rifampin, minocycline, septra DS, clarithromycin, and plaquenil. Plus bart herbs. Lol and he still has bart! What the heck is the deal here with this bart anyways. He even used moxifloxacin for a month I think.

Maybe it is??? But for me, I experienced this "bart day sweats" thing only when bart is getting out of control. When it is under control I don't experience that symptom at all.

Anyone else - have a clue if my increase in sweats could be a bart herx (even though they apparently don't exist...lol)

- Considering I recently added houttuynia and increased it a few days ago?

I have sweats too... during treatment mostly, I think Lyme alone can cause these...i've that any of the lyme and co herx can cause sweats, when I do detox baths and sweat it gets better
