the flu + no immune system

With this years wicked flu going around, I was wondering if anyone else has battled the flu more than once this season due to the weakened immune system that lyme does to us ??? I'm on my third round (!!!) of the flu. First was over christmas, second round was the first week of January, and now I'm being hit with it again for the third time.

This years was a doozy. My immune system is pretty good right now, but I suffered from it for 3 weeks before Christmas. I never get sick, but with this I coughed horribly for 2.5 weeks, had chills but little fever the whole time and flu-like inflammation for what seemed like forever. I would start to feel better but then relapse after a day or so. I was taking high doses of everything I could think of: vit C, garlic, selenium, zinc, ginseng, astragalus....everything. Nothing worked.

I eventually recovered, but I haven't been that sick for years. Still functional, but felt like cr*p.

On the plus side, I am finding that after recovery from this flu, I actually feel better than I did before I got it. Less overall inflammation. I sometimes have to wonder if these viruses don't act like predators in an ecosystem. Getting rid of the weak cells and allowing the healthy ones to flourish. Perhaps illnesses like these are sometimes necessary.

blue ~ I have an electric toothbrush that I regularly soak in things like colloidal silver or hydrogen peroxide between uses, and change the brush every six months. And I do oil pulling frequently.

rowingmom & purple ~ I had a little nausea and a wicked fever for about an hour with the second round but, mostly my symptom has been diarrhea to the point where everything coming out is "clear" and after several hours I end up with very bad kidney pain from the dehydration. Which is when I start taking immodium. I'll let my body do what it needs to do, up to the point of kidney pain. Then I'll take the immodium to start slowing things down a bit.

I've had lyme for roughly 20 years, based on what docs have told me. Now battling on my own due to a severe lack of money, with things like raw garlic, colloidal silver, and essential oils. But, I've pretty much given up hope on ever getting rid of it. I'll settle for just being functional, with long naps in between.

I am soo scared of the flu. I'm glad to know you at least survived it. It's not having a very good track record in NC right now.

I'm having to avoid almost all crowds. Very annoying.

I do know of a Lymie who had it twice.

Are you sure it was the flu and not another kind of respiratory virus? Did you get Tamiflu?
